Its doing what it needs to do to stay alive at this point. As stated by others, the convection should be more consistent tomorrow. I am still trying to figure out why the globals keeping losing this thing the E. Caribbean. The ULL looks to be following the models and pulling out to the west so shear from the ULL should not be a problem. I am starting to think that the shear is going to hang on a little longer from the East and helps keep this week for the next few days. We will see....

Climo still says it would be extremely rare for a storm within 65nm of Gaston's position to enter the Caribbean or hit the U.S. I am still thinking north of BVI and north of PR then recurve.

right when this storm became tropical storm gaston i had a feeling this was gom bound as a hurricane. just my gut though.

Im not trying to offend you but every system that forms you seem to persist on it hitting Texas...There are better ways to get thrills. Try a roller coaster.

no a never said this was texas bound i just said i think it might be gom bound. that could be anywhere from mexico to florida.

that climo map only includes storms that have already formed. It has nothing to do with tropical waves. So I doubt that map is even useful.

Well, let's wait and see if that happens. You know not every storm is going to go to South Texas though, right?

Gaston having stayed as weak as it has made the threat of landfall alot higher. I would suspect this would make people happy...but ive learned when it comes to complaining it doesn't matter what your complaining over, just that you have SOMETHING to complain about.

Something just doesn't seem right with gaston. Beginning to think it is nothing more than a cluster of storms traversing through the Atlantic. Don't know about you but it looks like November out there. Perhaps another burst of tropical activity in a couple of weeks then we are into October....so the cape verde season will be done and quite possibly not one u.s. Landfall from a cape verde system. Based on the hype this year, hard to believe that may happen. May just be wondering if we fall short of the numbers......

I still think this will go north of the islands or smack right into Hispanola. If it survives another 24 hours I expect the system to strengthen to at least a tropical storm. Then the question will be how much land interaction there will be.

You can stil see the swirl of Lower Level Clouds spinning away...
But like you said, it's convection thus far hasn't been maintaining a constant CDO, which especially at night gives the appearance that there are just a bunch of random cloud tops popping and dissapearing.

Wow, Gaston... your sad looking! When someone mistakes you for some afternoon thunderstorms at night!! lol

around 60w things will moisten up a bit and gaston should make a shot at getting some respect back.

Just to chime in on the non-development bandwagon, the Hydrometeorological
Prediction Center leaves it as an area low pressure gradually moving west, south of Cuba I think.

Still have to wonder how people can look at one storm at one moment in time and project out to the whole season.
I wish it was November here it was hot as @#!$!! today.....
