I have seen this website from the NWS office you took this at. Personally, I would still take a "human" spotter training course. That way, the NWS folks in your area KNOW you are trained by then and, and you're on "the same page" as all the other trained spotters. :?
I have done spotter training (yes, I am NWS) for several years, and there's nothing like in person training. That gives the staff at the local NWS confidence that you have been given the same information.
