I understood that right now we are in the "eclipse shadow". When we will have updated images?

well its sure does look like the beginnings of an eye... we will have to see what happens since we will not have any microwave images for a while. so we are just blind except for satellite..

If the convection that is to the south of the center wraps around I could foresee this ramping up quickly...We'll have to watch and see if it gets the super cold tops near the center and makes the "fist of death" as I heard it referred to when Earl was ramping up...

At this rate, it might be a hurricane by 11 AM!

Rapid strengthening indeed..

The increased intensity is not a shock. SAB was T 3.5/3.5, or 55 knots, at 0615Z.

Its strengthening but I agree with Wxman57 it doesn'ty look like an eye and microwave shows no real eyewall at all which you'd typically find if that was a real eye, instead seems like the northern convection has eroded showing the curveature of the system better.

Still that won't take much of a big blow up to form eyewalls from now on.

That is what gave the illusion of a SW dip then, it was the system becoming increasingly lopsided as probably some dry air moved into the northern quadrant...reminds me of Ike at one point when it lost its northern quadrant.

Looks to me like it's run into another high shear area, this time from the NW. Igor is getting blown all over the place.
