Re: ATL: KARL - Hurricane - Discussion
Karl looks like it is taking a dip towards Veracruz at the last second. (Talk about a devil of a hurricane)
The city of La Antigua just up the coast should take the teeth of the eyewall (If Karl doesn't do a hard wobble back west).
There is a steep escarpment up into Mexico's volcanic ranges just behind the landfall area that should create disasterous floods. The area between the cities of Xalapa and Orizaba should see floods.

¿De qué zona ? - Choose "Veracruz"
Cámaras - Choose "1ro de mayo"
I hope they are getting people out of there!

that inlet or series of lakes s.w. of veracruz, that goes a great deal inland, should see a very high storm surge. winds are pushing alot of water in there. does anyone know if there are any populated areas around that inlet?

I think the eye should clobber Zempoala Aztec (or Mayan?) ruins just north of La Antigua:

nhc totally nailed the track. wnw once it left the yucatan, w over the b.o.c., wsw right before landfall.they were predicting this 2 days ago. may not have been exactly where they thought it was gonna go 48 hr. ago, but the general synoptics were/are sound. now for the intensity, well idk if we'll ever get that down. too many variables.

Looks like Veracruz gets the southern eyewall and maybe some calm as the center moves very close.
