A Informative Video for people around the Tampa area for a hurricane, and the test hurricane is in you guessed it...October! Features local mets and Dr. Lyons who used to be on TWC. The placement of this fake storm is near 95L so i thought it would be a good time to post it. Made by the Tampa Council, Very informative and made custom to our area with Facts and Figures at the end.

EDIT: Thank you srainhoutx and Cycloneye for helping me put up the video! :D

It would seriously be the end of Tampa as we know it. And who knows how long it would take to rebuild.

What's REALLY scary is that the "Hernando Beach" total-obliteration shot at 5:40 was a real scene from the Bolivar Penninula in Texas caused by big-eye category 2 Hurricane Ike in 2008, in which the wave-train pile-up surge preceding the storm was compounded by an oceanic bulge under the large eye inducing, upon arriving in shallows, a secondary tsunami-like compression wave at the height of the storm. The elevated ocean surged laterally over the island at possibly as much as 30mph or more for several minutes, causing tremendous scour. Devastation was apocalyptic:

Well I was waiting for someone to say the images were from their area. Im sorry for what happened. But if we share the video and awareness, maybe we can prevent this from happening in other areas :D

Notice the guy clutching his heart at 9:13. The stress associated with hurricanes or other severe weather events has been known to cause heart attacks.

I'm trying to figure out how one house (blue roof) remained standing right smack in the middle of that picture. Everything else was wiped out.

The tremendous erosive scour of Ike's tsunami-like lateral surge is plainly evident in the following video:

The ocean roared over the Bolivar P. like the Colorado River shooting a bed of rapids, and wrenched out everything. In some places a hundred feet of beach was eroded, and deep trenches gouged out between houses. The worst-hit areas look like Banda Aceh.

Here's a close-up from the larger picture I posted above, you can clearly see the erosive force of the lateral surge -- that water was MOVING.

Tampa still is a possible target for this time of year...take the 1921 Hurricane for example:

From the NWS Tampa on the 89th anniversary today of the 1921 hurricane - the last time the Tampa Bay area had a direct hit.
