With Lisa now a hurricane (totally unexpected! :eek: ) and forecast to become even stronger than she presently is before weakening, the ACE is well on its way to becoming hyperactive IMO.

Atlantic getting closer to hyperactive territory (150+ ACE units) Who brings the updated ACE numbers for the EPAC as Georgette got a few units, and the WPAC, where there is Typhoon Malaka getting big ACE units?

My personal favorite statistic regarding this season is that the Atlantic basin has produced almost twice as much ACE as it did during the entire 2007 hurricane season.

I like to pick on 2007; really I found it vile. There were 11.25 hurricane days over the course of June to December. Literally, it was a less than two week hurricane season.

Otto has formed,but is subtropical ,so no ACE units will be added to the Atlantic until it becomes fully tropical.

But I dont understand that. Why give it a name if it doesn't contribute anything?
