Martha's girls weighed more than my oldest son when he was born . I am so glad that they are able to breathe on their own , that is one sign of a mature lung system in premature babies.
My son weighed only 3 lbs 7 1/2 ozs when he was born and he was not a premature baby, he was a full term baby. He had two birth defects as well as kidney disease. The kidney disease affected his growth. Even now he is still very underweight for an adult man. At 34 he still weighs less than 100 pounds. He did require a kidney transplant on Sept. 2, 2000.

The girls had their minds made up! That's fantastic news that they are breathing on their own and their weight is pretty darn healthy for twins and being preemies! :D

Congratulations Uncle David! :D

Daddy is beside himself. We will probably try to visit tomorrow, but with so large a family here we have to be careful we don't overwhelm Mom and Dad and for that matter the hospital. :cheesy: Please continue your prayer for their continued health. My S2K family is the greatest! thanks for all the support!!

Those are big girls for 32 weekers. So glad they seem to be doing well, will still be praying there are no major set
backs. My twin girls were full term(37 1/2 wks) and about 1lb. more. CONGRATS!!!

I missed this yesterday. Still in sort of a fog.

So glad to hear the good news! I agree - that's a healthy weight for preemies.

Congrats to all.

Everyone is still doing well considering. One is still in level 3 NICU with oxygen(not intubated)with a lubricant added to help clear her lungs and the other one is in the level 1(?)NICU and doing well. She took a half ounce of formula(?) from a nipple today so that is great news. Both are on feeding tubes for a little while, but all seems to be going well. Thanks again for all the support and prayers.

Both girls are still in NICU. One is doing better than expected and the other is not doing as well as expected, but no one is in danger. Please keep praying.

All my prayers and good vibes your way. My sister-in-law had triplets a few years back. All three were very tiny and couldn't breathe on their own for weeks. They are all now healthy and active young girls, all three doing great. There are a lot of caring people on this board. Please do continue to keep us posted.

All the good thoughts and prayers are working!!
Avery is doing great! She is eating more and more out of the bottle each day but continues to get at least half of her nutrition through the IV. She did have 2 apneas last night, but the doctors say that is to be expected. Blake is also coming along and should be extubated tomorrow! We are hoping she will be moved to the lower level NICU with Avery early next week.
That is the latest update from my niece. The girls will be in the hospital for about 3 more weeks, at least. Martha will probably go home today or tomorrow. We, (the entire extended family(it is quite large))appreciate your support so much!! Please continue sending the good thoughts and prayers.
