The lowest pressure was likely around 953mb. That is stronger than most hurricanes - that would have been the second most intense last year and fifth most intense this year.

Thanks Hurakan for the great picture.

We have lots of damage around here. Our Local radio station has problems. In Phillips we had a wind gust of 58 mph.

My neighbor lost his kids playground. It looks as if it flipped over a few times and it is all magled. My barn door is off. My sheds door flew accross the yard plus I am losing garage roof tiles. I cannot wait till its over. My Mother-in-law is staying with us cause she lost power last night in Park Falls and it is still not on.

Our local storm report says:

10/27/2010 1247 am

13 miles E of Park Falls, Price County.

Non-thunderstorm wind gust m51.00 mph, reported by mesonet.


Measured at the Smith Rapids RAWS.




10/27/2010 1231 am

5 miles SW of Phillips, Price County.

Non-thunderstorm wind gust m57.00 mph, reported by trained spotter.


Trees and power lines down in the township of Harmony and
in the lake 10 area.





10/26/2010 1115 PM

1 miles N of Phillips, Price County.

Non-thunderstorm wind gust m58.00 mph, reported by AWOS.


Measured at the Phillips AWOS.

Non-thunderstorm wind gust m49.00 mph, reported by trained spotter.


Damage to a business sign in Phillips from strong gusts.

Impressive storm. Unaware that this kind of explosive extra-tropical cyclogenesis could occur over land, but apparently the Great Lakes have some role on what has happened
