GUADELOUPE. Manifestation of the LKP
Activists and supporters of the LKP marched Tuesday 26 October in the streets of Pointe-à-Pitre to request compliance with the agreements signed in March 2009 in the general strike of 44 days.
Elie Domota "bik"@Catherine Pelletier/Secretary"
They were 30 000 according to the LKP and 6500 according to the police. Event organized on 26 October in Guadeloupe was not met as many activists that the organizers expected. So far, they minimize the mobilization and announce continuation of the movement, in various forms.
"Bik".
This is before the "bik" from LKP appointment was fixed. Symbolic place among all where major movement 2009 conferences were organized. But despite the symbolic scope of the location of the rally, it wasn't "crowd great days", which was given an appointment at Pointe-à-Pitre. But still, many thousands of people. Fairly, in all cases, so that the procession stretches nearly 100 meters.
"Gwadloup is ours".
Prior to departure through the streets of the economic capital, the leaders of the LKP addressed and activists announced that the "vigilance is more than ever release: Io pa respekté akow io pran maws 2009." Annou véyé. sa ». The determination of the 49 organisations of the LKP officials seems intact. The parade through the streets, with to refrain "Io PE Ke radishes its v yo' Le adan péyi nou has" has helped galvanize the crowd.
Warning
26 October day was just a simple warning. Elie Domota LKP and Secretary General of the UGTG spokesperson stated that if nothing changes, the agreements are not respected, then the LKP launches a vast movement of unlimited general strike from 14 December 2010. But by then, other actions will be carried out, they will notably take the form for declutching and affect different sectors of the country, such as fuel, but also great distribution.
The biggest event in Guadeloupe
26 October 2010 mobilization was inter-regional. But it is in Guadeloupe identified the number of demonstrators. In Martinique, alongside KF5 (Kolektif 5 févriyé), they were approximately 2,000 to beat the bitumen and only a few hundred in Guyana, the appeal of one Trade Union: the UTG, the Guyanese Workers Union).

Interview of FRÉDÉRIC GIRCOUR and NICOLAS REY, LKP Guadeloupe: 44 days movement: "we are objective facts but engaged in the analysis.
Interview by Sarah BALAY France-French West Indies Guadeloupe 08.11.2010
http://www.microsofttranslator.com/bv.a ... 100791.php
(Roberto Birhus) In bookstore since late October, LKP Guadeloupe: 44 days movement is was written four hands by Guadeloupe antropologue who lived abroad movement and a Metro teacher who lived it inside of the LKP.
When you had the idea to write a book on the events of 2009? But for what purpose?
Nicolas Rey. During the events, I was at the Mexico. I was contacted by media (Portuguese, French, German...), because I was known for having written a number of books on Guadeloupe. I started to write articles about events and a number of my sources found on the blog of Frederick I knew already. I have therefore suggested to work with me on the movement and from there came the idea of a book. We were in mid-June 2009. It is metropolitan, but lives in Guadeloupe. I'm guadeloupéenne home and I saw outside. What interested us, it is this cross.
How do you actually worked to write this book, during and after the social movement?
Nicolas Rey. Frédéric Gircour regularly questioned the protagonists of the event. Me, I considered on works from the 1970s on the movement for the liberation of Guadeloupe and Martinique. With internet, could have access to some writings, especially those intellectuals. We have data, information that person did. We have then cropped everything in a very serious term historical, sociological and anthropological analysis. It is a complementary and whole.
Reading the book, one clearly feels this desire to speak to a broad public beyond the borders of Guadeloupe. Why?
Nicolas Rey. It addresses effectively to a wide audience. There is the desire to speak of democracy in this book, it was important that the outcome of this work is part of democratic momentum. Frédéric Gircour. In France, the example of the LKP has stopped: many envy this example all progressive forces to a same movement on an ambitious claims platform consolidation... Not be limited to 24 hours etc. This is a true resonance for the people of France left. And then, it was also important to clarify this movement which was not always well understood.
Frédéric Gircour, you were engaged in the movement for 44 days. What was your role exactly?
Frédéric Gircour. When the movement began, I found myself inside on the first day. I expressed and I started exhorted the Interior, with analyses, pictures that I then postais my Creole dog blog. I continued on this row than 44 days. Still trying to be objective on the facts, while being committed.
But precisely how can both be objective and committed?
Frédéric Gircour. I do not believe in the complete objectivity. Writing always from somewhere. On the other hand, on the facts, we try to be the most objective as possible. It is in the analysis that our subjectivity will speak. Experienced these events inside gives me a real knowledge, legitimacy to speak about this subject.
You defend the LKP in your book. However, a critical look at some of the things you wear. Including meeting secret between Yves Jégo, Secretary of State to the overseas, Elie Domota, and point to claim the priority of employment for the Guadeloupian?
Frédéric Gircour. This meeting secret between Elie Domota and Yves Jégo revealed in the book of the Secretary of State. But then, no one was later. People thought that it was a secret meeting between the Government and the LKP. In reality, the other members of the LKP were not aware. Only the UGTG was. Elie Domota denies. But after consulting with people very well placed, but who wish to remain anonymous, we affirm that this meeting had been held. In our view, it is a political faux pas and we denounce. However, this episode is anecdotal at Elie Domota attitude during the movement. There, indeed, always preferred transparency, unity and balance of the LKP. Concerning the priority to the hiring, which is annoying, is that mention "to equal jurisdiction" does not appear on the platform of claim. Even if "it falls under the meaning" according to the leader of the LKP, this was a very important source of misunderstanding.
You denounce the verbally aggressive manner with which some demanded the closure of companies...
Frédéric Gircour. In a society where more and more jobs are precarious, contractual, CSD mission interim, the law is able to guarantee the right to strike. By engaging in this kind of movement, these employees risked losing their job or not renewed. Shut down businesses helped to liberate these people. We regret however the manner in which has not always been very correct. Always is it that we can underline the nature peaceful and exemplary manifestations of the LKP.
You spend several pages in areas of shadow of the death of Jacques Bino. Do you think you know the truth one day?
Frédéric Gircour. It only takes no path. There is no search for truth. Currently, there are a scapegoat in prison who lived the terrible psychological conditions: Ruddy Alexis. In the book, we propose a return on the issue with very specific elements for the first time. It explores other assumptions and there are certainly more plausible than those currently preferred. Should be a strong Guadeloupe requirement so that the truth finally broke out.
You discuss a strategy against-productrive LKP at the end of the movement. What do you intend by this?
Frédéric Gircour. There remained in a speech denouncing the LKP. And this speech was taken over by opponents of the LKP: "the LKP recognizes him - that the movement has not led. "The evidence that the method was not good." However it is not the method but its suspension with lifting force social report which resulted a decline on the decisive advances obtained. Continues to speak to start a movement or he will never stopped, it is still pending. It is legitimate because it was brought by a historical part of the population also historical period. If the employer does not intend to reason, need to retake the return to force social report.
You analyze taboo themes concerning the LKP: is it democratic? Is it racist? Not to mention these rumours of officials?
Frédéric Gircour. Indeed, it analyses in detail the report maintains the LKP with democracy, as well internally that vis-à-vis institutions, its strengths and its deficiencies in matter, or report the issue of independence. Also back on the issue of racism, also by digging a small little, found on the subject of the surprising things. Also we are back on a number of untruths as history that Act would provide that employees are paid at the end of 45 days. It is totally based on nothing. The people who invented this rumour well know and would be well in sentence to produce any document to prove their claims.
After a demonstration of force on October 26, the LKP announces an unlimited general strike from 14 December if answers are not given. What do you think?
Nicolas Rey. Personally, I do not think that the strike will resume from one day to the next. Is global crisis and it is not clear. It comes for example in France. It argues, must be out of this metropolis Caribbean dialectic. It wider. I will not speak general strike, but multifaceted strike, which strikes could be in different sectors.
Frédéric Gircour. The reasons for the uprising 2009 still exist. Contempt also. Discomfort is perhaps even more strong today. People see that the profitation structures are still in place.
It is true that today ' today people are afraid, because they told that layoffs are caused by the LKP. In metropolitan France, the situation is much worse and there the LKP but it does not prevent people down in the street, on the contrary! This is the first time since the end of the movement, there is a call to the unlimited general strike. It is therefore in a near schema that was in December 2008 for the moment, also little willingness of stakeholders in policy. The State may react by repression, but it would be a very dangerous bet. No one would have to win with a too large part radicalisation and on the other.
