Seasons Greetings, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy kwanzaa, Happy Holidays, Drive Carefully... The works! :lol:

Have you ever had a friend ask for help with something he was trying to do on his computer (like use PhotoShop to create an unusual effect or perhaps just sign up for a Gmail account) that you knew how to do but couldn’t quite picture what he was doing wrong, no matter how much he tried to explain it? Perhaps at such times you have thought to yourself, “If he could just record what he was doing and send it to me, then I’d know the solution to the problem. The thing is, he might not know how to do that either!”

Well, here’s a neat service I came across today that takes all the hassle out of “tech support”, if you will: ShowMeWhatsWrong.com

All the systems that I setup for family members, I install logmein.com so I can remotely connect into the system and see what is happening. I set each system up with a separate password for each system. I then go to logmein.com, enter my credentials, select the system I need to connect to, enter that system's credentials, and viola, I see that systems desktop. I can then do just about anything I need to on the system and get it back up.

I was not aware of that program. That would help me greatly when dealing with my grandparent's system that I am continually having to help "troubleshoot."

It looks like a pretty good (certainly more versatile and robust) solution than ShowMeWhatsWrong but is it free to use or just free to try?

There is a free version that I use. There is also a pay version that has a lot more features. For what I need it for, the free version works just fine. I can do file transfer, share the screen, share the printer on the machine I'm connecting to if needed, open up a chat window with the person on the other end.
