6. Terrorism will once again be in the headlines off and on throughout the year. It will especially be prevalent in February during the Olympics when a plot is foiled and the late spring when a major attack is averted. ok... WRONG!

Update number 2:

Cryomaniac wrote:1) A member of the British royal family will die. Probably Prince Phillip or one of the young Princesses (Beatrice or Eugenie).

2) Israel and / or the US will attack Iran (probably will come out of this business with Yemen)

3) Lindsay Lohan will be back in the news for her personal life.

4) The Saints will win the Superbowl. Right!

5) A famous singer will die in odd circumstances (odder than MJ).

6) Someone else will follow Tiger Woods' lead of personal revelations. David Beckham comes to mind. Right! (John Terry)

7) The economy will start to slip again. The Dow might reach 12k, but that will be the high for a while.

8) In conjunction with 2), Oil prices will reach $200-$250.

9) The Conservative Party will get the most seats (but no majority) the UK Election, making David Cameron Prime Minister in a minority government. Half-right, it's a coalition though, not a minority govt.

10) Someone famous will surprise everyone and come out as gay Half-right (was Ricky Martin really a surprise?)

I might add more later.

4. NBC's president Jeff Zucker is removed

JEFF ZUCKER FIRED BY STEVE BURKE: Comcast "Wanted To Move On" After Merge; NBCU Chief Emails Staff About Forced Exit

BREAKING NEWS! 6TH UPDATE: Jeff Zucker decided to reveal this morning he'd been fired by Comcast because he'd just finished negotiating his severance package, insiders explain to me. So Zucker told reporters that the decision for him to leave as head of NBC Universal was made for him by Comcast COO Steve Burke 2 weeks ago during a face-to-face meeting. “He made it clear that they wanted to move on at the close of the deal and I was completely comfortable with that,” Zucker told his favorite journalist, Bill Carter of The New York Times. “We had both gotten to the same place.” It has long been expected that, once NBCU switched out of GE's control where Zucker was inexplicably protected by CEO Jeffrey Immelt, the savvy Comcast brass would recognize how badly the NBCU topper had "Zucked-up" his job. (I scooped how, during Zucker's mishandling of the Conan O'Brien-Jay Leno Tonight Show situation, private emails went out from high-level executives at Comcast saying, "What a mess.")

:D It's about time! Mistreating Conan and screwing him over was a big no-no. It looks like he got Zucked!

1. A television show struggling in the ratings during the fall of 2009 finds ratings improvements and will become a spring surprise hit. I will take The Middle for the win!

2. A wet summer will bring record breaking flooding to the Midwest. Tennessee and Arkansas aren't the Midwest. ;-)

3. Three Hollywood stars will be involved in the same major scandal that will involve law enforcement. Nope

4. An earthquake along the New Madrid zone (greater than a 5.0) will rock the mid-South. Nope

5. Lou Dobbs will run for political office. No, but could happen soon.

6. Terrorism will once again be in the headlines off and on throughout the year. It will especially be prevalent in February during the Olympics when a plot is foiled and the late spring when a major attack is averted. Half right.

7. An unknown musical act from Canada will be the rage this year. Hello Justin Bieber.

8. Another quiet hurricane season will prevail in the Atlantic with no landfalling systems greater than a borderline TS/Cat. 1 hurricane which will march across Florida in September. It was quiet stateside, with only a TS making US landfall, but the Atlantic was extremely active!

9. Sarah Palin will get a job in tv. Fox News and TLC, FTW!!!

10. The Olympics will see the US winning the most total medals, but not the most gold. We did win the most medals*. Go USA! :flag:

*Edited after being schooled by a fellow poster. ;)

Final Update:

Cryomaniac wrote:1) A member of the British royal family will die. Probably Prince Phillip or one of the young Princesses (Beatrice or Eugenie). Nope

2) Israel and / or the US will attack Iran (probably will come out of this business with Yemen) Nope

3) Lindsay Lohan will be back in the news for her personal life. Half-right I guess

4) The Saints will win the Superbowl. Right!

5) A famous singer will die in odd circumstances (odder than MJ). No one I can think of

6) Someone else will follow Tiger Woods' lead of personal revelations. David Beckham comes to mind. Right! (John Terry)

7) The economy will start to slip again. The Dow might reach 12k, but that will be the high for a while. Not really. It hasn't got a lot better, but no worse either. The dow is still <12k too.

8) In conjunction with 2), Oil prices will reach $200-$250. Nope, but it is closing on $100

The US did not win the most gold medals in the Olympic games in Vancover. We won the most medals overall. Canada won the most gold medals.

1 United States 9 15 13 37
2 Germany 10 13 7 30
3 Canada 14 7 5 26
