So do you think if this does hopefully, continue to possibly, perhaps :) be a snowfall event, is there anyone willing to say its hypothetically possible that this could duplicate some of these previous bad snow storm events with some areas getting 8 - 12 inches of snow across north central Texas..?

Thoughts? or am I wacky?

I think Ntxw is right on the trowel formation being the key. If it does happen, should be plenty of moisture into play. See johnbasham's post and graphic on page 68 - that NW Gulf low should really put fuel on the fire if the rest of the snow scenario can set up.

Personally, I think 3-7 is most likely for the heavy snow areas, but some areas, especially east of Grayson County along the Red River could approach higher amounts in some isolated instances.

I'd like to believe more is possible, but I'm kind of like Iorange55...the odds of double-digit snowstorms in the Metroplex and N/C Texas in back-to-back winters are pretty long.

Kind of like the Seahawks beating the Saints... :D

I think whoever the MSU guy is might be busy predicting his own weather....
One persons opinion of course..but I just saw a accumulation map that showed a 8" swath from Yazoo City over to Starkville/Columbus and the state line.

Oh the 0z Canadian model seemed just about the same the way I'm looking at it as the 12z. Maybe a tad bit warmer, but still had us in Dallas snow and also showed maybe a bit more heavier precip.

Just walked outside and saw some drops of rain on all the hoods... didnt hear any sleet or anything. But Man its feeling a lot colder than just an hour ago..wind has picked up. No official change on the temperature yet though. Looking at that radar though, It won't be much longer till moisture enters the metroplex.

Just had some normal sized snow flakes here but they were very scarce. Saw some nice lightning in the distance to the southwest also lol.

This has got to be the most erratic storm I have ever seen for the north Texas. You have rain, sleet, snow reports all around each other. And of course the NAM vs GFS thing...

I'm debating on whether to go to sleep and be surprised in the morning or being awake through the "surgery" so to speak.

I say just call it a night, you wont miss much between now and morning I don't think. I'll probably stay up for the first few frames of the NAM in about an hour, if it folds, I give.

You're going to put yourself through that? Lol. I will too probably, though. I'm sure I won't be able to sleep yet. It does feel colder outside though, I think a lot of that is the wind.
