[quote="iorange55"]Regarding the freezing drizzle this is the latest the NWS has said about it.

[quote]RAIN SNOW LINE HAS BEEN SLOWLY MOVING SOUTHEAST THROUGHOUT THE
MORNING. HAVE HAD REPORTS OF SNOW AND SLEET IN NE DALLAS COUNTY
AS WELL AS DENTON...WISE...AND ELLIS. THIS WILL CONTINUE TO HAPPEN
AND WILL START THE TAFS OUT WITH RASN AND THEN QUICKLY TRANSITION
TO ALL SN AFTER 19Z. SNOW WILL LAST SEVERAL HOURS BEFORE THE
PRECIP BAND MOVES TO THE EAST. IFR CONDS WILL PREVAIL FOR MOST OF
THE PERIOD. MOST OF THE MOISTURE WILL EXIT THE REGION...BUT
FREEZING DRIZZLE WILL BE A CONCERN OVERNIGHT AS TEMPERATURES DROP
INTO THE MIDDLE 20S AND LIGHT DRIZZLE IS EXPECTED. THE FREEZING
DRIZZLE IS EXPECTED AT WACO AS WELL.

How far down south do they expect the drizzle, Waco is close to the Austin/SA nws forecast area and they mention nothing about freezing drizzle for their northern counties?

Still snowing, smaller flakes. Snow on roofs and grass in Lewisville. Residential street, sidewalk look wet, no sticking snow. 34F.

So I guss they're expecting some type of drizzle happening overnight.

The 18z Model data continues to indicate a chance for light rain/drizzle overnight into mid-day Monday across North Texas.
During this time the atmospheric temperatures at the SFC and 925mb layers will be below 0c across North & Northeast Texas. Just above those layers however temperatures will be above 0c.

This should allow for a light freezing drizzle or rain to fall and stick as an ice glaze.

Not sure how far south. We know as far south as Waco for sure (according to them) I don't think it will be a huge deal. However if enough drizzle comes down overnight roads could become icy.

It'll probably be fine down there in Austin.

The precip shield is dying off, what an odd turn of events! I think Portastorm somewhere down south is huffing and puffing it away.

Hey! Don't blame me. I've been outside building my cold rainman. :cheesy:

Is this going to be all of N. Tx or just specific areas? Im not to familiar with the area so what does it take to shut down roads and all that here?

Ok, update from McKinney. Looks like we've gotten 4-5 inches? It went over the top of my feet when I went outside just now. Still falling too. Sure does look pretty, but I'm glad I have a husband who lived in snowier lands and knows how to drive in it.

Can you give a little insight as to what you think could happen midweek or next weekend and could the possible system(s) make it into the deep south?

Darn EWX is trying to snuff out my hopes for a nice, little midweek winter weather here in the capital of Texas.

GFS MODEL RUN-TO-RUN TRENDS HAVE GONE COLDER AND DRIER FROM THIS
ARCTIC AIR MASS. RETURN FLOW MOISTURE AND OVERRUNNING POTENTIAL
LOOKS LESS LIKELY FOR THE WEDNESDAY-THURSDAY TIMEFRAME. THIS ALSO
TRANSLATES TO A HARD FREEZE FOR THOSE COUPLE MORNINGS. WITH LESS
CLOUD COVER EXPECTED FOR THURSDAY...MIN TEMPS ARE EXPECTED TO
REBOUND IN TIME FOR THE LIGHT RAIN CHANCES ON FRIDAY. ANOTHER
STRONG FRONT IS INTRODUCED FOR NEXT SUNDAY BY THE GFS BUT IS NOT
SHOWN IN THE 12Z ECMWF.
