Here are the members who came very close or nailed the exact numbers in the past polls starting in 2007. See all the past polls at hyperlinks below:

2007=luvwinter

2008=boca / Cleveland Kent Evans

2009=capapoint

2010=vacanechaser

Will any of the above winners do it again or other members get to the winners circle? :) We will find out on November 30.

Yes,there are many members who live in that part of the world that have registered. That is why anyone from that area who wants to begin a poll for the WPAC,can make it more early than the Atlantic one as that basin starts to turn active much earlier.

Who wants to venture this early on a set of numbers for the 2011 season? The caveat is, the numbers anyone posts in this thread wont count for the official poll that starts on April 1rst.

The main reason the poll will start on April 1rst instead of March 1rst,is because of the ENSO factor as there are many things that can occur during the next few months that can cause the upcomming season to be from very active,somewhat above average,an average season,slightly below average or way below normal. Yes,La Nina at this time is a strong one,but things can change quickly,especially by the Spring months as past data has shown.Or it may occur that La Nina stays as it is now. I think that starting in April will be beneficial to the peeps,as there will be plenty of information by that time about what is going on with ENSO and the other factors such as NAO,AO,PDO,SST'S,SAL etc,etc,that the peeps then can analize and decide on what set of numbers they think the 2011 season will end up with.

Are you tired of the old man winter with all those many winterstorms and very cold temperatures? :cold: Well, if you are one of those,this is the time to start thinking on what kind of season the Atlantic will be in terms of the numbers as time goes very fast and when you distract to the winterstorms,brutal cold temperatures and the start of the severe weather season in the U.S.,the poll will be open in only a couple of months for you to change the mood to tropical weather :)

My very preliminary numbers are 18/9/5. However,when the poll starts,I might change or leave them depending on what I see occuring with the different factors,the most important,the ENSO one. Cyclone1,are you still at 1/0/0? :P

The departure of Joe Bastardi from Accuweather leaves a hole in terms of the long range forecasts for the hurricane seasons and I am sure,some of the peeps in part based their numbers in the past year polls on what JB forecasted. Let's see how the folks can deal with how they will have their numbers in this year's poll without having him,unless he gets a job soon enough before the 2011 season starts.

Do any of you relie solidly on what JB forecasts to help with the numbers,or you go to other sources to look for guidance?

Well, JB was not the only source to make my seasonal predictions but sure it was one of the most important, for example last year I chose as analog years only La Niña years, and the only Neutral analog that I had was 2005 thanks to JB.
