Lots of unknowns after Wed. per this afternoon's NWS discussion out of New Orleans.

A SECOND AND STRONG UPPER TROUGH WILL DIG TOWARD TEXAS ON
MONDAY...ALLOWING YET ANOTHER SURFACE LOW TO DEVELOP OVER THE
DESERT SOUTHWEST. THIS SECOND SYSTEM IS FORECAST TO BE MUCH
STRONGER/DEEPER THAN THE FIRST...AND WILL HAVE MUCH MORE MOISTURE
AND INSTABILITY TO WORK WITH AS IT MOVES THROUGH THE AREA. AS THE
LOW MOVES EASTWARD THROUGH NORTHERN LOUISIANA AND MISSISSIPPI...IT
WILL DRAG A COLD FRONT THROUGH THE AREA TUESDAY AND TUESDAY NIGHT.
THIS WILL RESULT IN HIGH POPS MAINLY ON TUESDAY...WITH ANOTHER
ROUND OF SHOWERS AND EVEN SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS TO THE REGION.
INSTABILITY WILL BE HIGHEST NEAR THE COAST...WHERE A COUPLE STRONG
TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS MAY BE POSSIBLE.

BEHIND THE FRONT...HIGH PRESSURE WILL BUILD INTO THE AREA AND MOST
MODELS GENERALLY AGREE ON THE FORECAST THROUGH THIS POINT. BEYOND
WEDNESDAY...HOWEVER...SIFNIGICANT DIFFERENCES APPEAR. THE GFS
FORECASTS HIGH PRESSURE TO REMAIN IN PLACE FOR A FEW DAYS AND
THEN ANOTHER COLD FRONT ON THURSDAY BRINGS A SIGNIFICANTLY COLDER
AIR MASS BUILDS INTO THE REGION FOR THE WEEKEND. THIS SOLUTION IS
NOT PREFERRED AS THE GFS HAS OVER FORECAST SEVERAL SYSTEMS LIKE
THIS THAT HAVE NOT PANNED OUT. INSTEAD...WILL OPT TO FOLLOW THE
ECMWF FORECAST MORE CLOSELY FOR THE PERIOD FROM WEDNESDAY AND
BEYOND. WEAK HIGH PRESSURE SHOULD REMAIN IN CONTROL OF THE AREA/S
WEATHER THROUGH THE SECOND HALF OF THE WEEK. A STRONG/DEEP UPPER
LEVEL TROUGH WILL FORCE A COLD FRONT INTO THE AREA FRIDAY OR
FRIDAY NIGHT...WITH A COLDER HIGH PRESSURE BUILDING IN BEHIND IT.

IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT BEYOND WEDNESDAY...THERE IS LARGER THAN
NORMAL UNCERTAINTY IN THE FORECAST...AND BOTH POPS AND TEMPS
COULD CHANGE SIGNIFICANTLY AS FUTURE FORECASTS CONTINUE TO REFINE
THE DETAILS OF THE NEXT FRONTAL SYSTEM.

Winter Storm Watch now up in NE Oklahoma and Missouri.

* SNOW AND SLEET TOTALS FROM 4 TO 10 INCHES...WITH LOCALLY HEAVIER
AMOUNTS...ARE POSSIBLE NORTH OF INTERSTATE 40. ADDITIONALLY...ICE
ACCUMULATIONS AROUND ONE QUARTER INCH ARE POSSIBLE WITH THE HEAVIER

I can not be sure but I think the precip will move out before it gets below freezing, so I doubt it is snowing out in the Gulf.

Actually it could be snowin in the gulf cause the gfs has snow accummulations for Carolinas and I would assume that since that is snow for N and SC that is showin on that map that that would also be snow in that gulf of mexico since its on the map with the precip in the gulf. :D

I started a new thread here in the winter form dealing with the midwest/eastern snows...feel free to post in it, it looks like here just off Lake Ontario in NY, we may actually see a decent snow storm.

GFS has a deep south snow event around hour 252 with pretty cold temps coming down. Long way off, of course but still fun things to watch. I think the GFS had this a day or two ago and then took it away but here it is again.

Followed by another light dusting around 348 hours, haha Some may be from the first event but some of it is obviously new.

Again, I'm pretty sure that would have gone through before temps drop below freezing. That just shows precipitation over a certain period. The precip can come and go before temps get to freezing. Someone else could explain this better than I can...
