Local mets in the Beaumont area are now forecasting sleet/snow in my area for Thurs-Fri!!

Thursday, with another hard freeze with lows starting off at 26, there will be a small chance of 10% of some snow flurries in the morning hours. Highs will near 43 with some sun by afternoon.

Friday, as we hit well below freezing again, lows start near 25 and reach only 42 for a high. There will be a 20% chance of precip again in the morning with some of that falling as snow.

I'm going to take full precautions for a hard freeze. And to think I'm also keeping a watch on the radar tonight. Thunderstorms backdooring-in from the Northeast!

Yeah, Jason... the one that warranted the Severe Thunderstorm Warning in Hardin County is knocking on my door now.

Meanwhile, I just checked some local forecasts and KBMT now has snow in the forecast.

Snow or no snow, this is looking like it will be a predominantly sleet/zr event for the immediate metroplex. There is enough moisture while it's freezing on the NAM and 850c temps are above freezing before any changeover. Probably mostly sleet.

Just heard something (on Channel 33 in Dallas) about a piece of energy would move across the metroplex on Friday. The word used to describe it, if it happened, was "snowstorm." Anything to that?

Well if is anything like the one in 2003......bring it on? I know people will hate me for that. :double:

I still remember that storm like it was yesterday. Went out to eat and there were just a few sleet pellets and when I came back out it was the hardest I've ever seen sleet come down and the sidewalk was already covered in it.

I think it is part of the system that will effect SE Texas later next week.

Does sleet really have any major impacts besides that it hurts when it falls. LOL

Haha its ok man, Im with you on that. I remember walking home from school in that, in 5th grade, it started as freezing rain for me and then quickly changed to sleet and I dont think I've ever seen it come down like that before. If this is even close to that, Ill be happy. Crossing my fingers for a day off, I dont wanna do my debate on wednesday!

I was with my then girlfriend in Irving watching a movie at her sisters apartment. Halfway through the movie the sleet started to fall and I mentioned we should leave for home in Fort Worth. After the movie was over everything was already covered and frozen. Attempted to drive on hwy. 183 and ended up exiting Esters blvd and staying at motel. No way was I driving in that mess. Next morning somehow got back to her sisters and just waited it out. Helluva storm. You are correct in saying it was the heaviest sleet.
