I swear when I went to bed I was in Denton, TX and somehow woke up somewhere up north. This is brutal. Just heard thunder. What a crazy powerfull system. Sleet everywhere, cold is howling, stepped outside for one minute and had enough. I have never heard the TV mets (on Fox 4) encourage districts to close. He is almost pleading with them to close.

As usual Dallas ISD is holding on last till minute.

Heavy layer or sleet now covering all surfaces south of 183/360 on Tarrant/Dallas line (Centreport)
Cars have frozen layer now that can't be rubbed off with hand, same with metal surfaces
Sidewalks and parking lot VERY slick with quickly accumulating sleet in all areas and surfaces without standing water on them.
Sleet continuing to come down very fast and winds increasing in NNE direction with booming thunder in background.

These are my observations as of 4:35 am

I would urge anyone who doesn't have to go out, to just stay home. It is slick and it is sticking like glue.

Snow in Denton, just changed over I think. Perhaps a mix but snow for sure is falling as well.

Sidewalks and roads are a skating rink.

Fort Worth ISD is also closed.

Add Arlington to that list.

Dallas never closes, at least that's the impression I am given. I swear I have never heard the TV Mets plead with schools to close if they have not already.

Wow that is something. I can hear the sleet hitting the back of the house all the way in the front you. The winds are sooo strong and it's just coming down.

Crazy.

When Plano closes, that'll be a wrap. They always seem to be the last one...
