Dallas never closes, at least that's the impression I am given. I swear I have never heard the TV Mets plead with schools to close if they have not already.

Dallas sounds pretty generous compared to Plano. Were almost always the last district to close, although considering how much accumulation weve gotten in the past 20 minutes since it started, were pretty much guaranteed now. Almost no puddles left on my street now and i live on a cold-a-sac where water often collects. This is so reminiscent of 2003 for me.

That is nuts. I have to admit if it was that cold I'd be under my sheets hiding.

The National Weather Service in Fort Worth has issued a Wind
Advisory... which is in effect until 6 PM CST this evening.

Strong north winds from 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 40 mph will
continue throughout the day Tuesday as a strong Arctic cold front
moves through North Texas.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Advisory means that sustained winds of at least 20 to
30 mph are expected. Winds this strong can make driving
difficult... especially for high profile vehicles. Boaters should
use extra caution when venturing onto area lakes.
Residents may
wish to take action to secure trash cans... lawn furniture... and
other lightweight outdoor objects that may be blown around in the
strong winds.

Anybody want to take a spin on Lake Texoma today?!? :D

Something tells me we are going to be talking about this storm and the TEMPS this week for quite some time. I'm down for fishing or skiing. Just tell me when and where.

I think how cold and windy and for how long will definitely be talked about for awhile. I love powerful winter storms. So many times we get an inch or two but it's weak. This is weather right here.

temp here in CLL dropped from 61 to 39 and dropping fast. That is in 15 minutes time. Terrible wind, thought some trees were going to snap and the roof come off.

check this site for temps out west and north, you will have to change the selection in the Hydromet data to display area.

What is Plano ISD waiting for? All of the other major districts have closed. Does Plano have heated roads or something?

It's been that way forever...

Back edge is in sight on the radar, between Ft. Worth and Brownwood. System moving very quickly now.

So, next question. You think we will be closed all week? How many days? All ISD's....

It's brutal out there now. Snow is falling with the sleet. I went out to videotape and the winds picked up, sleet pegging me in the face. OUCH.

Record lows for the rest of the week for DFW:

2/2: 7 (1985)
2/3: 14 (1996) - this one is probably going down.
2/4: 8 (1996)

Three years ago, on 2/4, we achieved a "record high minimum" of 68 (for the entire month of February) with a high of 82 later that afternoon. Ahhh... Texas.

The record high for February is 96 (1904), and record low -8 (1899). Of course the -8 is our all time low. Probably our most extreme month in terms of that records gap.

Ok, I am not going back out anytime soon but here is what it looks like around my place now. The wind hurts, the snow is falling hard, sleet and ice under the snow. This is quite the storm.
