Wow, I never would have guessed that many members. We still have many of the same faces too. I have an anniversary on Sunday. I joined February 6, 2003.......EIGHT YEARS. Many of us came over when the Weather Channel site was closed down. I love it here......JUST LIKE FAMILY.

Thanks to the Admins and Moderators......you guys do an excellent job at making this a wonderful place.

We have to thank all of our members worldwide for making us what we are today!! Never in the wildest dreams of our founders and initial members did we envision what we are now!! THANK YOU EVERYONE!! Yeah, I am one of the TWC board exiles, too. I can say that my tenure hasn't always been the smoothest (mainly because of my gullible nature), but I am glad that this site is still around. It is a great place for weather information!!!

There is so many people on here that you won't even be able to keep up during Hurricane Season. Congrats to S2K to.

When hurricane season gets close, people start coming out of the wood works...very few stick around the entire year.

Really? To me it seems most people stick around year long from what I can tell...But then again I'm still relatively new so I still probably don't notice everyone or know all of them yet.

But how many are ACTIVE members and how many are/were Bots or Spammers or have wandered off into the Great White North?

My guess would be somewhere in the 40% neighborhood.

True, you'll see them off and on, but for the most part, they are only around for either the severe weather season, or hurricane season.

To answer a couple of your questions:

1. Spammers get deleted pretty quickly aroud here so they aren't included in the membership numbers.
2. BOTS don't count at all since they don't join.
3. If by active you mean people that post, your 40% is actually high. Based on just the last 12 months, we've had a little over 2000 members who have posted. On thing to consider though is that we have a lot of members that never post and we have a lot of visitors that never even join. Looking at the stats for Jan 2011, we had almost 46,000 unique visitors (based on IP address). That's a lot for one of our historically slowest months.
