Im kind of rusty when it comes to looking for radar loops of frozen precip, living down in south LA and all. What are some of the better radar sites to look at that show winter precip like the white for snow and pink for mix?

Just got word from my boyfriend that school is canceled tomorrow. He works in West Baton Rouge parish. I don't think an official announcement has been made yet. I expect Friday to be canceled as well unless tomorrow is a total bust and we get no ice. Things will still be frozen for the Friday morning commute.

Is the precip we are seeing down towards the coast going to begin spreading more northward? Or is there another system coming that will bring the more widespread precip?

Driving home from Saraland (northern part of Mobile County) to West Mobile about a half hour ago I ran into intermittent sleet all the way to my house. I wasn't sure what that tick-tick-tick sound was at first! Now, I'm wondering just how messy is this going to get? (BTW, local weather channel still has our high forecasted to be 43 and it's only 39 now. I don't think it even hit 40!)

Nothing here in Reserve (W of NOLA -- I'm in a dry slot) yet but it is coming from my southwest.

I want snow as much as the next person but it doesn't look like it will happen now. I will say this ... it is darn COLD.

Wow a ton of moisture continues to stream from the SW to NE from the GOM.
The crazy thing is the Gulf low hasn't even developed yet.

Friday Night: A chance of rain and snow, mainly before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 29. West wind between 5 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Hey, they never mentioned any kind of snow accumulation before! That's a good sign!

New Orleans area was one of the first to get sleet this morning and they will be the last to issue a WSA or WSW.
