Re: Texas Winter 2010-2011
Just a quick though but is it possible for the Houston area to get gulf/bay effect snow tonight-tomorrow? I've never actually seen that in the GOM

This band should easily put down 1-3 inches alone tonight. No one should be left out. It's a wall parading in. I wonder where WacoWx is?

I feel bad for our southerners, SA & HOU, cuz I don't know if a lot other than Frz Driz/Flurries will fall there. I hope so though. Returns are picking up around there.

Looks like Dallas should see moderate to possibly heavy snow at times with that band. The Arctic has made a new home in the heart of Texas.

Snow? Just one inch ... I'll be honest with you ... it wouldn't surprise me if this deal ended up being almost all freezing drizzle/sleet for us. I've seen this happen before where the warm air aloft is tougher to dislodge. Not trying to bum you out. Just my take on things. Ntxw has a good point in that it would be helpful to have more soundings in situations like this. The forecasts would improve for sure.
I just went outside and the icy glaze is thickening.

Do not fret Porta; the heavier bands will drag south through your area as they build SSWward.

Porta I am absolutely heartbroken. Snow just never comes together for us. Too cold, too dry, just never happens. Should I give up hope on waking up to snow on the ground in the morning?

Four rollovers on I-35 downtown here reported in the last 30 minutes. I kid you not! This is per KXAN, the NBC affiliate here.

downsouthman I don't see how the bands are going to build SSW towards us? It doesn't look like that is going to happen by the looks of current radar. Why do you think that will happen?

I was about to call it a night, and I'm nowhere near DFW, but I'm waiting up on this.

I have sensitivity turned way up & it looks like a squall line that you would see in the Spring.
And thank you to whomever the Moderator was that removed that post directed towards me. I really am not in the mood to argue with anyone in an online forum.

What's weird, the only place in NTX I can find reporting light snow is Hillsboro.

If we get 3 inches area wide in Dallas, the roads will be almost impossible. Snow didn't really stick on the roads too well in last years February event

I posted on the last page that Waco was reporting light snow. It was from the NWS page.
