Re: Texas Winter 2010-2011
It's coming down decently again. I'll have to go out in a minute and see what we're at now. This has been a super odd storm.
For Texas at least.

1-3 looks to be about 5-6 before it's done, got 3 already measureing from the hood of my SUV.
I have 3 already also. I seem to be staying under the heavier bands. When should we expect the precip to come to an end?

This thing has been unpredictable, no one knows until it starts falling. Euro and GFS have both done a poor job (though idk the snow maps for Euro maybe it did show 3 inches out of 0.03qpf lol).
I know one thing. The HRRR might become the new standard for wintry precip in TX. Even the HRRR today didn't show a lot of measurable precip south of I10.

Not a professional MET! My posts are merely speculation.
Re: Texas Winter 2010-2011
Here's my pics from Little Elm, about 30 miles north of Dallas, about 5 miles west of the North Dallas Tollway and 1 mile south of 380. We got about 1.5 inches from what just passed through. Still a light snow but some heavier stuff on its way based upon radar.

Sorry about the quality, took the pics with my iphone.

Is that band southwest of DFW coming toward DFW? It kind of looks like it's al trying to come together. Anyone see that too?

Just as I progged this band of ice/freezing rain is roaring into the I-35 Corridor with Austin getting the heavier precip atm.
Really worried and concerned for the Hill Country/CTX because of the ice.
How do we know its not snow?

It was freezing rain and now sleet, next snow.
But there is no more moisture...I don't see anything more tonight.

New Euro says DFW won't get out of the 30s until Sunday afternoon. Even then it's a struggle past 40.

Even the radars have been fail.
Another large area forming out to the west, looks to track right across DFW.

Ok seriously calm down. You should get signifigant icing with the band thats moving through now that WSW is well warranted as this ice will make condtions way worse than they are currently. Keep us updated as this band moves through.

I got 3.5 about everywhere I measure now. It's coming down harder now and with more to come....I don't know maybe 6 inches isn't out of the question!

Re: Texas Winter 2010-2011
I'm completely confused - more thrown off than I have EVER BEFORE... Radar has moderate/heavy snow over Grayson County.. I'm RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE of it.. not even 1 flake?
Can someone please help me or explain this to me... According to radar..this band of snow is going to be gone over me before you not it and hasn't dropped any snow?

Yes, and I love it! Wasn't sure how it would hold up coming this far north but it didn't disappoint. It took long enough but it finally got here.
