question for the pro mets (if any are awake): What is it that the NAM isn't seeing? It shows high RH at 850 and 700 mb levels but mainly E of DFW. Is this the lack of soundings that caused a bad initialization? There is a huge temperature gradient from E TX to W TX at 850 mb. As the air wraps around from E to W, does this 12+ C temperature drop squeeze the moisture out without any real VV?

Jerry Jones has got to be mixing a stiff drink this morning.. I wonder what the economic "opportunity loss" has been to DFW businesses this week with everyone staying in.

At least everyone should be able to get to the game Sunday. I wonder if any cheap tickets are out there now..

The 5.5" reading was taken from the concrete driveway next to my car with a layer of ice underneath. The 4.5" reading was taken from the hood of my car, which I de-iced yesterday.

Edit: It's a stoplight.

28F and glaze of ice. Pretty pissed about it too! is our last hope in this snow line? Or can we get a few more surprises? In the discussion they said '15Z,' they really think this could go on till 3pm?

Have added another .5" since I took the photos. That puts the total at 5-6" with the possibility of up to another inch.

Au contriare my friend. I am receiving VERY light flurries on and off at my residence and there are reports of flurries sticking in NW Harris County(Hockley area).

Weak snow bands coming in from the NW.

Intrested in a Porta specific report as Austin got some light snow and decent amounts of accumulative ice as well and obviously causing major problems for the Austin morning commute.

EDIT: Am think the activity intensifying from Graham to Mineral Wells w of Stephenville will be the last accumulating snowfall band for DFW(1-2") other than light snow/flurries.

Sorry for the delay ... I had the audacity of sleeping a few hours.

Austin report ... about one-half inch of ice and on top of that about one inch of snow. It has stopped snowing here. As you might imagine, the roads/bridges are awful. All schools and state businesses closed. Some fatal wrecks also on I-35 during the overnight due to the ice, sadly.
