Euro not as happy as GFS for Sunday or early week, but still has snow coming from the 'expected' big storm for Dallas. Showing snow in the 20s again.

Yeah I'm getting one too. As far as middle of next week I'm thinking the models might begin to strengthen the system, but I guess we'll see.


I am wiped. Winters didn't used to be this busy around here. It's as busy as severe weather season! Which has been a drag the past couple of years.

I just realized that in the past calendar year, I've gotten 12" on Feb.11th, 6" on Mar.21st, and 6" now on Feb.4th. Two feet of snow!!!!!!!

NYC's seasonal average snowfall is 22"

Precip has significantly increased, I'd say it's a moderate shower now with nice big flakes like this morning

No snow here. Just ice everywhere. In trees, on the ground, covering everything with a sheet of ice. And on the roads! BPD telling people to stay off the roads! Many major accidents, with multiple injuries and one death, and then dozens and dozens of minor accidents caused by icy roads. A 43 year old woman was killed in a 4 car pile up caused by ice. Another car went off an overpass. It's still well below freezing and ice is still on the roads and reforming.

As for the snow... nope. Nada. None. Not happy about it, either. We were in the bullseye, or near it, for close to 2 weeks of stupid model runs and then get the shaft. Lots of surprise snow for many Texans though, and I hope those of you who got it, enjoy it. I just wish it had materialized here as well. I can't believe I got so excited and actually believed. I know it's pathetic, but the letdown is so depressing. And I wasn't greedy... I didn't need historic snow. Or epic snow. I just wanted a little.... enough to have a snowball fight, even just to build a small snowman. Anything. *sigh*

Ok, pity party over. Sorry... just needed to rant a little. It's weather. Unpredictable. I know this. It still gets me, though. Where's spring?

Nearly 1pm and it's still only 27° here. I'm beginning to wonder if we'll get above freezing, as forecast.

I don't think it's a mini ice age. You can't call it that until you string decades together. We are certainly in a colder cycle for the oceans and the sun. Surprise surprise that they are the drivers of weather. We've been in a 'warmer' period (debatable) with warmer oceans, and should revise what 'normal' is. If we don't, like this winter has shown, it will be costly both economically and as a society. Sure the winters could be a fluke, but how can you deny it when you have moderate/strong Nina which clearly says warm for the southern half of the nation? Cold snaps happen in La Nina but this has been going on ALL winter...

Newton has a theory, for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Keep warming the earth with c02, she'll fight back with vengeance! Maybe we've been going about it all wrong

I need to study on it more and I agree it's not a mini ice age...yet. I think one could be coming or heck this might even be the start it. I don't think anyone is causing it though I don't want to get into a global warming debate. I just think that its just the natural cycle of things, and that is just how the world works. I think we're beginning a new cycle and it'll be cooler than what most are used too.

We might not see 15 inches of snow every year. But I have a feeling winters like this or last year might become a bit more normal.

I feel bad too, but one of our guys lost his dad today...so there is more to life than snow.

Yeah. I'm thinking I won't do this again. The next time it snows here, I'll be one of those clueless dolts who wakes up to a surprise. The letdown is so disappointing. Yes, I know. I'm pathetic.

Dang. Was it weather related?

That's another reason snow would have been better. There have been so many major accidents (with injuries and death) caused by ICE. Nobody wished for anything dangerous. Everyone just wanted fun, harmless snow. My prayers go out to everyone who has been hurt and the families of those killed by this horrible weather!
