As the sun starts to peak through the flurry action gets a little heavier. Oh you silly weather.

I'll bet we hold this snowpack till sunday during the superbowl and the ice underneath Monday. This dry, fluffy snow is a little tougher to get rid of.

I just realized that in the past calendar year, I've gotten 12" on Feb.11th, 6" on Mar.21st, and 6" now on Feb.4th. Two feet of snow!!!!!!!

NYC's seasonal average snowfall is 22"

And you are not done yet...

I expect another 3" on Wednesday...

What are you looking for in HGX? Just rain?

It's almost over. There's been a persistent last band that's parked itself over the Metroplex. It gave FW the boost to join the party. It's in the mid cities right now.

I have a question for you guys, what causes the snow to melt so fast on the streets without a lot of traffic? My whole street is wet and all the snow off my roof is gone? I mean it is still 28 degree's here. Thanks.

Hmm the last band here is giving light snow but bigger flakes sticking together. Looks like wetter snow now, maybe that has something to do with it.

I would expect to see some single digit lows tonight outside of DFW...maybe 9F over the snow cover regions it cold spots?

Well in SA they got 0.4" so at least it was something. My little sister got snow for her b-day today! How lucky is she!? Here in CLL we got 1-2", not bad! I just wish the unexpected freezing drizzle didn't happen. It was very messy out there last night. I'm happy for you guys up north that got a surprise out of this. Enjoy!

Heat soaking through your roof is melting your snow. Also, even if it's cloudy, there is some warming by the sun. On our side streets there are patches with ice from Tuesday and patches that are already melted. The icy parts of the street are shaded by trees or buildings, so they were colder when the front came through, and got less heat from the sun. There's also a section with a storm drain under it that always stays clear of ice and snow. I'm guessing the continuous stream of liquid water keeps this part of the street above freezing, or close to it.

Sorry for my unexpected absence but I was running on NO sleep till about 10am, when I decieded to take a quick nap. As for whats next.. the NWS FTW will be more detailed about Sunday/Monday in the Afternoon Forecast Discussion Package I would look for that.

That's nice. We (Marshall, TX) ended up with 1.4" of snow. Rather surprised since at 4 AM last night (snow started 12 AM) we had at most .25" snow.

This is still far away but look at next week!

Yep lol iorange55's prediction of a foot of snow next week has a model support now!!! Looks like an I-20 blizzard, I-95 in the NE.

I agree atm, about Wednesday being the more signifigant of the two.. Could be another potent arctic front eh? Most models have the 0c line so tight to the -10c line as it moves through which means temps will plummet to freezing, and below with this front with a matter of a short time.
