That will probably hold down amount a little bit. But it is showing 538-530 thicknesses. So during the snow we'll be falling to about near 20.

Unfortunately EC also shows virtually no snow for Texarkana, it looks more like the Ukmet.

I believe our foot of snow was during the day, right? Morning into the day? If I'm remembering correctly.

It was! But like 2-3 inches of it was before daylight which helped. Then you just keep adding to the cold layer lol. I don't think it will be a problem. The isobars look tight on the GFS. Need to keep that in mind for wind.

I wanted to post a portion of our client forecast for Wednesday (across Texas) where others could see it. I'll try to allow access to more of these over the next few days so folks can get as many different forecast thoughts as possible.

There is a client weather update posted on this page:

http://www.stormspotter.com/client/texas/WinterWeather.php

For those who don;t want to read our text product there, here is a look at the forecast graphics:

Long-time lurker, first-time poster.

How real does the ice threat look to be for the area between Austin and Temple this week?

Folks in W/Central/ and even parts of SE TX may need to watch closley if the Euro verifies. This appears to have the makings of a close call for some areas.

Euro ends precip across SE TX by around 00Z Thu with temps well above freezing, so no ice there. It does have some light snow into Lufkin as the precip ends.

But the best part is what happens AFTER this week. 850mb freeze line shoots up to central Canada as a low deepens off the West Coast, signaling the big thaw across the southern and central U.S. I think we'll see temps near (or above) 80 in Houston/Dallas and 90s in the Valley next week. Snow line moves from NE TX to the Dakotas in 10-12 days.

That is it---La Nina will roar in for the next 2 weeks.

WeatherDuck, welcome to Storm2K! Nice to have another Central Texas poster on board. :)

Right now, the threat for ice in the area between Austin and Temple looks quite real. The 0z GFS run last night came in colder as did the 0z European. The NWS forecast discussion out of Austin/San Antonio highlighted that there will be several hours of post-frontal precip which will likely be of the freezing nature. Whether it is sleet or freezing rain or snow flurries or a mix, remains to be seen. But there is definitely a threat for icy conditions in the area you mention.
