NWS LCH doesn't think much of it, either. They've put freezing rain in my forecast, on and off, for a few days now. Currently, just rain is forecast for me, but a town less than 10 miles north of me, as the crow flies, has freezing rain forecast. Either way, it looks to be no big deal.

A snippet from their afternoon AFD:

THE RAIN WILL TAPER OFF WITH PASSAGE OF FRONT. FREEZING DRIZZLE IS
POSSIBLE ACROSS THE LAKES REGION AND PINEY HILLS BY WEDNESDAY
EVENING. NO ICE ACCUMULATION IS EXPECTED.

Btw, the town north of me isn't in the lakes region. *shrugs*

Channel 8's Pete Delkus is going with the 2-4" with some areas in the metroplex seeing 5"+ of snow and saying he cant see the school's being open Wednesday and maybe even Thursday due to temp's remaining below freezing.

Big change from what they were saying at noon, That little guy on channel 8 at noon was like "well there will be a little bit of snow".

Looking at soundings from the GFS, it almost totally saturated from 500 mb - 700 mb, -10C to -15C, which is probably 11-14 x prate.

I would expect 3-5"...maybe more in spots.

He always says that lol. Unless he has concrete evidence to back it, its not much more than a wishcast. On the other hand I do think totals will be revised upwards. The gfs has consistently put out about 3-5 inches over dfw the past couple runs, and the 18z has about .5in qpf (edit: over the NW third of NTX) when all is said and done, and assuming orangeblood's snow ratio of 14:1 is right, that would put the total at 7 inches, assuming it all falls as snow. As of right now, I cant see anyone waking up to any surprise amounts, but with what happened the last few events, anything is possible I suppose...

edit #2: figured Id post it to back my claim.

I am more interested in SE TX...DFW is going to get it, we already know that.

Rather see some ice pellets or something in Tomball/Spring/Magnolia.

txagwxman, earlier today you promised me 80 sleet pellets. I'm feeling generous tonight so I'm going to send half of those over to Tomball. :cheesy:

Any chance of some snow here in CLL? I don't want class to be canceled here on Wednesday because I have an ATMO test then!

Nothing really screams canceling classes in CLL. But the accumulating stuff won't be too far to the north so you just keep in touch with the NWS in case the cold air decides to come in with vengeance!

Thanks Ntxw. I'm still a little worried because that cold air sometimes has a mind of its own and comes in much earlier than forecast.
