Sweetwater, TX has fallen 20 degrees in the past hour (to 29 degrees). Abilene (40 miles to the east) is still enjoying an east wind at 51 degrees.

Amarillo is getting nailed. That heavy band over them has only grown wider.

Is the precip expected to transition over to snow quicker now?

OMG! I believe any travelers in that area may get stranded in their cars.

The troopers are out in force here in Amarillo, but not many people at all other than some trucks attempting the drive atm. Heavy amounts of snow falling atm. Last hours transition is amazing.

Its not easy to navigate. trust me. 5 years ago I moved there having never experienced a blizzard like that. with the snow flying every which way its VERY easy to lose your bearings and since you can't see the road anymore you just drive wherever you are pointed! They usually do a good job of controlling I-40 traffic. Nothing really west of Amarillo until Tucumcari. Getting stranded out there is NOT an option.

I got stuck in my alley (5 feet from my driveway) last year.

The front has already passed through Abilene. The front is right now roughly along a line from Winters-Clyde-Albany-Throckmorton-Archer City-Henrietta-Ringling (Oklahoma).

Ya. I apologize. I keep assuming stuff is inherent cuz of the maps I'm watching.

You can now see the front here: http://www.wunderground.com/radar/radbl ... ightning=0

I'll stop trolling the board after this so you can talk about the rest of Texas, but I rarely see people from Amarillo talking about current conditions, thought I would speak forth. Wouldn't want to live here Wall Cloud, this is good as a novelty but thats about it.
