Re: Texas Winter 2010-2011
I think were going to be hard pressed to get 1" out of this deal. All the accumulation i have is on the road, weird? So was this forecast a bust snow wise?

YES. Although the WRF had the snow further north...GFS/ECMWF were too wet.

It was a bust. We did get more ice than I thought we would. It seems the western half of north Texas (Dallas proper west) looks worse than the eastern half based on tv reports.

The roads are a sheet of ice and all of the schools are canceled. How is that epic fail lol? Ice rinks look more drivable than this!
i agree, i made it approx 1.5 miles from my house....left at 6:30am
needless to say my truck is sitting in a ditch off of 78 ...i was only going around 4-5 mph...
Stay Home....call in to work, if u can..............

Let's see if CLL can get to 32F by 9AM.
I think 27-28 looks more likely. Good news is the radar doesn't show much precip behind the front.

Might leave work here early if the precip hits Tomball.

Since highs tmrw are only going to get in the upper 20's, is it safe to assume that everything will be shut down again because nothing will have melted? REALLY tired of being at the house bc of last week hah

It's possible, depends on if we get any sun today. FW is getting moderate snow atm.
BTW stay away from I-35 near downtown Dallas. It's a parking lot, the big rigs are stuck.

Currently in the upper 30s and rain. Some of the rain sounds loud but doesn't look heavy. Does this mean possible freezing rain?

Ntxw,
Is the HRRR still showing some heavier bands later in the day?
HRRR has a few bands developing over the metroplex but at this point just keep track of the radar. The stuff just to the NW might pivot over us later.
You called it right... The stuff to the NW has backbuilt some and is pivoting right over us.

Interesting at 19z for W Houston.
That looks more like the current radar. I'll bet by 19Z that the precip line is well east of downtown Houston.

Wow the low for Denton tonight is forecasted to hit 5F!

If we get down there this system has colder air then the last one. We have not seen below 10 yet.
