March snowstorms are rare for the south and southeast but they can happen. Remember the superstorm of 93 and in 1980 southeast Va and eastern NC had a blizzard in march. :froze:

Going to be in the 70's for most of the week and close to 80 degrees on Friday...looks like I will be going to Pensacola beach next weekend :layout:

For much of the long range it looks warm for the South east with some Severe Wx possible. Very long range does indicate a reload of cold air in NW Canada. Will be interesting to see if that makes its way south.

You can bet that with a winter pattern of predominent blocking up north, additional blocking will occur again before we finally set our sites on spring/summer Of course 2-3 weeks down the road, the temperature will moderate some. A freeze is almost likely with some other frosts, but not as cold. While wintry precip is not likely, you can never say never. But winter is not going to give up that easily, just yet.

All I can say is that it is about time that the pattern has changed. All hail the southern ridge! It has been too cold for too long IMO. So, who has been counting the number of deep south snows we have witnessed this winter? I have lost count.......MGC

Love the cold and it's one of the few things about living on the Coast that I miss about central MS. That said, we've had enough, and its time for spring to move in.

LOL! Would that be an actual tropical depression or storm or is it too weak? The GFS spits out crazy things sometimes.

That would be very interesting considering the water temps are still in the 50s/60s in the northern Gulf.

Whatever it is I hope GFS is right with the rain. But really at the range of March 2nd I'm not holding my breath.

You've got to love the GFS.

It either has blizzards in the deep south or tropical mischief in
GOM even though the water are still in the 60's. :)

Didn't know where to post this but thought it was interesting. Curious if the growing sun spot will affect our weather in the future.

Wow, if that were to travel up the coast and the temps stayed below freezing that would be one hell of a storm. Of course, it is way way out in fantasy land. That GFS is a hoot sometimes.

The GFS has been advertising a cold front coming through the Deep South at the very end of February and start of March. This looks like a normal cold front that will likely knock the Deep South out of the 70's we have been seeing.

However, it looks short lived (2-3 days) and another big warm up following.

All this week and next week will be in the 70's with some days upper 70's. I would not be surprised if some local areas hit the 80 degree mark in the Deep South during this stretch. Being this warm in February is not unusual but for this long of a stretch to be in the 70's( 2 plus weeks) is unusual.
