From a meteor that landed on earth? Ummm...in that case, isn't the meteor already contaminated, and the microbes could of been forced onto the extremely hot rock? Perhaps we should start looking at rocks that have NOT landed on a planet that we know houses life...just a thought.

And a good thought at that!!! So totally obvious when you think about it. don't get me wrong, I believe we are not the only beings in this universe, by far, but what Tim posted begs for an answer when considering this.

Not only that...but how long has the meteorite been on earth prior to them finding it? Long enough, and microbes could of crawled into it (well, yeah), perhaps long enough to be fossilized in some way?

I'm guessing Foxnews just tried to make a good story (though all their stories suck...) and that scientist is a weirdo.

The chemical composition of the "organism" will tell you from where it came from, plain and simple. That's how they determine from where the asteroids found on Earth came from. It's actually pretty simple to distinguish.
