Thanks, where do I find the advisory from there, though?
Edit: nevermind, I found it - http://www.mar.mil.br/dhn/chm/meteo/pre ... timing.htm

Re: SOUTH ATLANTIC : JULIANA : Tropical Storm
Very rare. Last time this happened was 2004 I think. I wonder if there is any correlation with the North Atlantic season.

People are jumping the gun here somewhat. MeteoBrazil appears to be a weather forum!

Re: SOUTH ATLANTIC : JULIANA : Tropical Storm
Well both 2004 and 2010 were both very active seasons.
However, I don't see this being named officially, or at least by a credible agency...

Invest 90Q is a tropical storm by GFDL analysis, the storm has received the name of Tropical Storm Juliana by our amateur forum. about 2 hours ago via web

Re: SOUTH ATLANTIC : INVEST 90Q
It at the very least is still a Subtropical Depression.
We could probably get away with STD 01Q,

Definitely a STD, issued by the Marine Meteorological Service.

If the NHC doesn't give the name to these south Atlantic tropical cyclones, why they should remain unnamed?
I think it' s right that they are nominated by others, even from a forum.

Even though the NHC does not name systems in the South ATL, a weather forum is not an accredited agency. However, the Navy Hydrographic Center is and they are currently issuing advisories on this system, and in fact have designated this STD 01Q.

Re: SOUTH ATLANTIC : INVEST 90Q
Good evening everyone!
I´m new to this forum and I´m from Rio. CeuAzul means BlueHeaven in Portuguese. I hope not to be intrusive but the media here has released only bits and pieces of very controversial news on Invest90q. As far as I understood the Brazilian Navy had previously compiled a list of names to South Atlantic storms off the coast of Brazil. The name the navy has chosen to that storm is "Arani" which is indigineous tupi-guarani to "fierce storm", a very unusual name indeed.

Re: SOUTH ATLANTIC : Subtropical Depression 01Q
Hi there,
There seems to be a bit of a confusion. There are now two active systems off the coast of Brazil. One is subtropical off the coast of Rio Grande do Sul. This storm is Anita. There´s another further north off the coast of Espirito Santo, this one with a warm core and its name is Arani.

The previous post of an "Anita" was a comparison video to a storm from last year with that name. The current one is, as far as I know, not the same storm.
