So I am road tripping to the Indianapolis 500, on the way we were gonna spend a night in Pittsburgh, so on the way, on the map I noticed Shanksville, PA, we all know what happened there, so we took a detour to visit the Flight 93 Memorial.
The memorial is still under construction (It's going to be beautiful when it's finished). But they have the crash site marked, the site is fenced off during construction, a fence that has become a mini memorial, decorated with flowers, notes, and American Flags (many of the latter).
So, while we're taking everything in, a group of about 6-7 bikers pull up, they had ridden all the way from Arizona, ducking severe weather along the way.
Turns out, they were all Vietnam veterans.
They saw my DSLR around my neck and naturally asked me to take a group photo for them, which I gladly granted (ANYTHING for a vet). Got to talking with them, what fine human beings.
So there I stood, aside true living American Heroes, honoring and paying respects those who fell in the defense of this nation.
I had never felt so proud to be an American.
Thought it was a cool story.
An incredible, patriotic experience.

That experience will stay with you the rest of your life and you'll remember it like it was yesterday.

Sadly the photo of those vets I took for them on their camera so I don't have it, I do however, have pics of the site, which is still under construction. Feel free to flip through these as well as any other photos I have up.

It gave me chills, too. Something so simple, yet so profound.
