In the 6 to 10 day range most of Texas should expect the same kind of weather we had in May...Hot and Dry :(

Where's da rain???? It's way UP here  and it's never, ever going to go away. :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr:

C'mmon Mother Nature give us the summers we used to have. The Great White North used to have temps in the mid 70's to mid 80's and rain once a week/two weeks. Now we either get grossly hot summers or summers that never were.

Turning all my fans due south.

Uh oh, there is going to be a major clash in the center of the US!!!   We've turned all of our fans to the North to try and get rid of this heat. :D :D :D I wish we could negotiate a compromise. It is now official that it doesn't rain in Texas anymore. :grrr: :grrr: :grrr: :grrr: Oh, btw, 100.6f so far today at the house.

I saw a cloud!!! Amazing when I get so excited seeing a cloud. I am still holding strong on seeiing some rain again in 2012 or pehaps 36" of snow in December. I have been saying how weird these last years have been. Record heat, record cold, major Hurricanes, Snow, now record drought. Nothing will surprise me until we get back into a semi normal weather pattern.

10:30 am=90f    Can we please cancel the rest of the day? I have a feeling the 100f forecast for today will be a distant memory by 5pm(normally our hottest part of the day this time of year). I'm starting to wonder about rain even in 2012 at the rate we are going now.

I have been following the moisture coming off the Gulf all morning. Seems to be hanging out on the SE Louisiana coast and not moving farther west as predicted. On the flip side, this is the first day in a long time were there is only a sliver of dry air in the Gulf. The rest seems pretty neutral so I guess we will have to see if some more Gulf moisture is able to kick up or if the dry air will prevail.

I am not holding my breath for a shower today but I was encouraged by what I saw this morning. Not so much currently but you never know when it gets this hot just a little moisture can fire off showers. Well, guess we will watch and see.

Getting lucky here in Austin. Some showers/storms developing this afternoon and moving into the metro area. No rain yet here at the Portastorm Weather Center but thunder can be heard.

From HGX:

THE COMBINATION OF THE STRONG RIDGE ALOFT AND ABUNDANT SUNSHINE
HAS RESULTED IN RECORDS BEING SHATTERED ONCE AGAIN TODAY. HIGHS SO
FAR INCLUDE HOUSTON/IAH 102 DEGREES...HOUSTON/HOBBY 101 DEGREES...
COLLEGE STATION AND LEAGUE CITY BOTH 99 DEGREES...AND GALVESTON
97 DEGREES. FOR HOUSTON/IAH THIS BREAKS THE PREVIOUS DAILY RECORD
BY SIX DEGREES. FOR GALVESTON...THIS BREAKS THE PREVIOUS DAILY
RECORD BY FIVE DEGREES...A RECORD WHICH WAS SET 136 YEARS AGO! FOR
BOTH HOUSTON AND GALVESTON THESE TEMPERATURES ARE THE HOTTEST EVER
RECORDED THIS EARLY IN THE SUMMER SEASON...AND ONLY TWO DEGREES
SHY OF THE ALL-TIME RECORDS FOR THE MONTH OF JUNE.

99 here in Lafayette and 100 in New Iberia so far today, breaking our record of 97 from 1936. A few showers developing to our east and northeast which is 'upstream' in this pattern. Models also indicate better rain chances this afternoon/evening and tomorrow. I know the storms will be isolated at best if you can manage to get underneath one you could get a good downpour and some strong winds. Severe threat aside I'm praying for a storm either today or tomorrow, we need rain so bad!

WOW WOW WOW!! Just had a severe storm move over us. Gust over 50 mph and frequent cloud to ground lighting. Picked up over 1" of rain (sprinkler system messes up the total). Still raining but not as hard. This was VERY unexpected!

More records set today. Officially at BPT - 104°
Some 105° readings in Beaumont as well.

DPS shut down a major highway here due to a forest fire's close proximity to the highway. Yesterday, about 1500 acres burned near this fire, but they got that one contained. This is really bad!

I didn't get any rain from the couple of tiny showers that popped up in the area. I heard thunder, though. What a tease.

So scary looking!

My daughter (when she's in Houston) lives near San Felipe & S Voss and she sent me a text about an hour ago that it was storming over there. Lucky her!

Here's my official raindance...please please please let the entire south get some decent rain soon! Image

She lives pretty close to me. She did get a pretty good storm. After it passed her area it went severe and caused some damage in the SW Metro area like Steve posted. We just got a whole 0.01" out of a passing cloud. High here at the house the high was 103.7F. I'm going to join you in that rain dance. Oh no, wait, that could cause an earthquake. :cheesy:
You do realize when you come to visit her you are required to at least give me a call if not have lunch or dinner with me?

Highest ever this early iirc. Isn't the highest recorded here the 107F on Labor Day 2000? I know we got to 112 here at the house that day. We don't get to 105F very often here in Houston and I have been here for 41 years.

I thought it was 109F? I could be mistaken. I did travel to Alaska during that time.

:uarrow: You are right. It was 109f(the all time high in Houston). Today's 105F was the highest ever for June and the earliest Houston has hit that temp also I believe. Anyway you paint today it was TOO DAMN HOT!!
