That seems to be what they are predicting for this afternoon. Hopefully the rain will be more widespread than it was yesterday. Unfortunately with the set up it is more likely that the storms could go severe. I guess we have to take the good with the bad. We ended up with a whole 0.06" here at the house. My daughter in Copperfield had none.

101F at IAH and my house at 1:00PM. CU's are developing rather quickly now so it shouldn't be too much longer before showers/storms pop.

We hit the century mark here in Austin at 2 p.m. I'm doubting we'll see much rain today. Cumulus field almost non existent as compared to yesterday.

Good luck to you SE Texans. Hope you get dumped on!

MESOSCALE DISCUSSION 1112
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
0205 PM CDT MON JUN 06 2011

AREAS AFFECTED...SERN TX / SWRN LA

CONCERNING...SEVERE POTENTIAL...WATCH UNLIKELY

VALID 061905Z - 062000Z

SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP/INTENSIFY OVER THE
NEXT FEW HOURS ACROSS SWRN LA AND SERN TX. THE STRONGER STORMS WILL
FEATURE SPORADIC MICROBURSTS CAPABLE OF POCKETS OF STRONG TO
LOWER-END SEVERE WIND GUSTS...AND LEAD TO ISOLD WIND DAMAGE.

VISIBLE SATELLITE/SURFACE COMPOSITE SHOWS A BUILDING CU FIELD
DEVELOPING FROM NEAR/E OF I-45 N OF HOU EWD INTO INTERIOR PORTIONS
OF SWRN LA...WHERE TEMPS HAVE WARMED TO NEAR 100 DEG F. 12Z LCH
RAOB EXHIBITED A VERY MOIST/POTENTIALLY UNSTABLE BOUNDARY LAYER WITH
LOWEST 100 MB MEAN MIXING RATIO 18 G/KG. THE AREA VAD/S
/KLCH-KHGX...MOST RECENTLY LDB PROFILER/ SHOW 20 KTS 3-4 KM AGL
FLOW--AND THIS IS SLIGHTLY STRONGER THAN SURROUNDING VWPS/VADS
ACROSS THE NRN GULF COAST REGION. THIS BELT OF RELATIVELY STRONGER
LOWER TO MID TROPOSPHERIC FLOW MAY ACT TO LOCALLY MAXIMIZE ISOLD
WIND DAMAGE CONCENTRATION. GIVEN THE STEEP LOW LEVEL LAPSE RATE
ENVIRONMENT...WATER LOADING PROCESSES LEADING TO WET MICROBURSTS
WILL PROBABLY LEAD TO ISOLD WIND DAMAGE AS STORMS MATURE THROUGH THE
AFTERNOON AND PROPAGATE SLOWLY WWD.

Storms have blown up all around me, even has clouded up from the cirrus blowoff and I can hear thunder but not a drop! I'm holding out hope we will still get a storm later as it's not even 3pm yet but good grief please let it rain! Last significant rain (more than a simple ground wetting) was May 3rd!!!

I'm in a Severe Thunderstorm Warning. Come on, storms! It's getting really dark outside and I'm hearing lots of thunder. It looks good on radar... just hoping it doesn't fall apart and miss me! That's usually what happens.

I'm hoping to have something to tell my future grandchildren about... "I remember the day it rained in 2011" :ggreen:

Once she gets power back I'm sure she will fill us in, but from what I got from Dave on fb she got a couple of inches of rain, hail, and high winds with some damage in her area. Me? Another 105f day with no rain, just a lot of tease. Cloud cover has cooled us down to a freezing 88F.

Okay it really isn't funny but you sure ended my work day with lots of

Come summer you folks should really migrate North (well some years...however when we hit 120F temp combined with dewpoint a few years ago I'm positive it was much nicer down there).
