Well americwx2003 I have the charts ready to track this longtracker that I expect to be a formidable hurricane down the road but the important thing is where will it go or a fish or to the west towards the islands

I have never seen black cloud tops before, is this normal for potent storms?

This is no "compact" storm. The cloud cover associated with the wave encompasses over 10 degrees of latittude.

That's if it maintains its convection while over water. Already looks like this morning its not as impressive as it was over land. Time will tell if this one will be a watcher or another vanisher.

So far, SHIPS has it only to 26 kts at 120.
Can't believe I'm quoting SHIPS either

Forget the intensity model for now. though I think it will evolve slowly, but expect a TS in three days. The further west it develops of course, the more dangerous is it could be. The SHIPS/D will adjust in successive runs.

Let's see what this one can do. I am not holding my breath, since so many other promising-looking storms have fizzled.

Agree! I will give it 2 days to see how the convection behave in it's route across the eastern Atlantic, then we'll talk about it. There have been many systems so far this year as strong as this one, that have vanish or lost most of it's convection in the mid Atlantic because of the influence of dry air, subsidence, the SAL of last month, etc. Let's see if conditions over the Atlantic have improved for this one.
