Re: ATL: ARLENE - Remnants
Why did the NHC put a 0% chance for reformation? Can the center come back to life over land?

WETTEST DAY ON MEXICO CITY THANKS TO ARLENE
Thursday was the wettest day on record in Mexico city as 48.8 mm (1.92 inches) the previous record was 36 mm (1.41 inches) registered on 1989. As you can see Mexico city is not used to the heavy tropical rains that occur in other places of Mexico and Central America, and those rains produced 3 deaths and more than 80 000 people were affected. Here's a translated link:
http://www.microsofttranslator.com/bv.aspx?ref=Internal&from=&to=en&a=http://www.eluniversal.com.mx/notas/776464.html
In total there were 6 people killed in the country, this link has more info: http://www.microsofttranslator.com/bv.aspx?ref=Internal&from=es&to=en&a=http://www.eluniversal.com.mx/notas/776465.html

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL

FOR THE EASTERN NORTH PACIFIC...EAST OF 140 DEGREES WEST LONGITUDE..
THE REMNANTS OF TROPICAL STORM ARLENE CONTINUE TO PRODUCE SHOWERS
AND THUNDERSTORMS OVER PORTIONS OF SOUTHWESTERN MEXICO AND THE
NEARBY PACIFIC WATERS. THIS SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO MOVE WESTWARD
OVER COLD WATER DURING THE NEXT DAY OR TWO...WHICH SHOULD LIMIT
SIGNIFICANT RE-DEVELOPMENT. THERE IS A LOW CHANCE...10 PERCENT...OF
THIS DISTURBANCE BECOMING A TROPICAL CYCLONE DURING THE NEXT 48
HOURS. REGARDLESS OF DEVELOPMENT...HEAVY RAINS ARE POSSIBLE OVER
PORTIONS OF SOUTHWESTERN MEXICO DURING THE NEXT DAY OR SO...
ESPECIALLY OVER MOUNTAINOUS TERRAIN.
ELSEWHERE...TROPICAL CYCLONE FORMATION IS NOT EXPECTED DURING THE
NEXT 48 HOURS.

Perhaps you would like to post in Talkin Tropics, then. An active INVEST or re classified system would warrant a thread title change. That has not happened as of yet.

Pachuca - At least 11 people were confirmed dead in Mexico after Tropical Storm Arlene drenched much of the country with heavy rains and left hundreds of thousands homeless, officials said on Saturday.
The first named storm of the Atlantic season barrelled ashore along Mexico's Gulf coast on Thursday, dumping several centimetres of rain in areas still recovering from last year's wettest season on record.

Looks like Arlene was just starting to really wrap up its inner core, probably would have been a hurricane if it had anohter 6-9hrs over water.
