I had a very nice view of the Space Station this evening as it traveled across SE TX...sad to see an era pass on Friday (weather permitting) with the launch of Atlantis...

Astronauts Arrive at Kennedy for Final Countdown
Mon, 04 Jul 2011 01:58:56 PM CDT

On the Fourth of July, the four STS-135 crew members arrived in two T-38 jets at NASA Kennedy Space Center's Shuttle Landing Facility at approximately 2:30 p.m. EDT. Commander Chris Ferguson, Pilot Doug Hurley and Mission Specialists Sandy Magnus and Rex Walheim spoke to media before being transported to the Astronaut Crew Quarters in Kennedy's Operations and Checkout Building, where they will spend the next few days training and spend time with family before liftoff.

"I think I speak for the whole crew in that we are delighted to be here after a very arduous nine month training flow and we're thrilled to finally be here in Florida for launch week," said Ferguson.

Launch of space shuttle Atlantis is scheduled for Friday, July 8, at 11:26 a.m.

More afternoon thunderstorms with hail in the area. I just had rain, no hail and a flooded back yard :)

Well we did get some sprinkles but there was heavy rain to my North , South and East. At least it appears for this week we all have a chance of showers.

I had a fire scare yesterday. My neighborhood was filled with smoke. The smoke was awful inside and out and there was a wildfire about 1/4 mile from my sub-division. I was scared to death and shaking badly... smoke was everywhere. I packed up some things and was ready to go if needed, but we were never told to evacuate. They got the fire contained last night. Thank God!!

I got lucky and got one of the storms yesterday and today. They didn't amount to much rain, but enough to help! A lot of thunder and lightning with the storms, especially today. It knocked out my electricity for 2 hours. It came back about 20 minutes ago.
Some areas got some nice totals, though!

I had that same feeling a years ago. The reserve behind my house was like a wall of fire...A pine tree was struck by lightning. I just got the animals and got out. Luckly the FD put it out pretty quickly. Did smell like smoke for a very long time though...anyway always good to here nothing bad happened to anyone.

OMG!!! We got nailed here at the house this afternoon. Of course I was elsewhere so I didn't witness it. :( We did manage to get 0.32" of rain, our first in 3 weeks iirc. To say the least not a drought buster, but it is better than another 102f like we had yesterday.
Kelly, that must have been very frightening!! Glad it turned out for the best. Now to get ALL OF US some more rain to settle all of this crap down!!

Missed out again today on the showers. Again moving for me then decided to go elsewhere. It rained 1/2 mile away for almost an hour. Glad to know somebody received rain today. I sure hope the forecast for the weekend comes true wth a better chance of rain.

I guess it was just another spit in the pan so to say. Dry and Hot since then with 102f yessterday and 101.7f today. I was/am hoping that the upper low moving along the N GOM would bring us some rain. None yet, but maybe over the weekend if we are lucky. I'm glad our Florida contingent is getting some much needed rain, but geez guys it would be nice if you would share. :P

Ready to head back home from a family vacation in Montana. An awesome vacation for both weather and family. I took over 400 photos of weather images. Amazing sheared storms and the cool March Texas weather in July. Now its time to focus back on the tropics.

Thanks! Well the HPC does have moisture increasing from East to West over the next 5 days but we will see if that happens. There is some nice pockets of moisture in the Gulf this morning, let's just hope it makes it ashore and inland. Yes I am grassping at straws since I see no indication of widespread rainfall in the near future.

Just had a short rain shower!!! Only 0.07", but every little bit helps. Of course now it is steamy and we will be heading to our high for the day. Went down to 86f, now up to 94f, with the high so far today already being 96f before the rain. Wonder if we will go for our 4th(or more-haven't been keeping good track of it)triple digit in a row.

Actually ended up with TWO rain showers today!!! Still didn't amount to 0.10", but some is better than none and the high was only 98.6f today.
