Note that the wind direction is from the NNE and the pressure that normally there at average is at 1015 mbs is down to 1012 mbs and those islands are north of the well defined low center by 250 miles.Also the winds sustained are over 20 mph.

One thing I noticed though is the stratocu clouds north of the system. This means that the airmass is fairly stable. This won't kill a storm like a bunch of dry air will...but once it wraps into the circulation, it will inhibit convection. Also...on the obs you can see that the airmass is kinda cool and they reported drizzle. IF the obs were right, the report of drizzle shows a relatively stable airmass.
