Kadena hasn't reported a METAR for about 15 minutes... but their pressure gauge got taken out around 5 am local time this morning.

The storm also took out the JMA's station at Kitahara:

Yeah, I read that we are experiencing the worst right now from the Commander of Fleet Activities page. I'm wondering if we'll get some bad weather on the backside of this typhoon as well. We were getting gusts of 90 mph this morning! Getting close to 90 mph gusts again, right now.

Yes! The noise inside is AWFUL! Seriously worse than the noise from the filming I did outside. Our sliding glass doors have been screaming, literally, since yesterday. I have a splitting headache because of it. I got video inside during the last typhoon (Songda) strictly from the inside to show what we were hearing. I don't see a lot of damage outside, but I haven't gotten to go down and check outside yet. I have typhoon damage video from the last typhoon that I never got around to uploading. :oops:

<== Procrastinator

The good news for China is that they are backing off this storm intensifying as much as they thought it would. 2 typhoons lately that had the opportunity to be monsters have fizzled out. What gives?

Good luck! :D
Yes, we went through 2 hurricanes 2 weeks apart,our first 2 ever, and can't remember which was which, but one we sat in the eyewall literally for hours and the sounds coming through the vents, windows, et al, were so scary! We thought sure our house was gonna go at any minute! Now they have become a breeze, since we know what to expect, in the sense of the noise does not necessarily mean you will blow away! lol

Looking at Tenki radar or JMA's radar...seems to suggest the reason we have a lightened sky, right now, and the winds letting up is because we have been passing through one of the "moats" around Muifa's eyewall. Just an observation...So light out there looks like the sun could come out at any moment!

having the eye pass over is an awesome sight. It can really be deceiving, thinking all is calm, and then wham here comes the other half! :eek: Enjoy the bit of sun you can get right now. Hope it calms down soon.

Look here: http://www.jma.go.jp/en/radnowc/index.html?areaCode=218 - See that moat I'm talking about? I think you're right. I think it's going to get worse again before it gets better.
