Attention Prayer Warriors

#1 Postby pojo » Tue Aug 26, 2003 11:27 pm

My step dad had a heart catheter put in on Tuesday Aug 26. My mom told us that he needed a stint put into one of the main arteries in his heart and will be staying in ICU overnight. Hopefully nothing else is wrong with his heart (besides the horrible family history). FYI...He will be 43 in about a week.

Please pray for his safe return back home from the hospital.

I'll definitely remember your stepfather in my prayers Shannon. My uncle Gene underwent the exact same procedure a couple weeks ago and is doing well (and he's in his early 80's).

I hope all goes well with your stepfather, Shannon. My mother had the procedure back in May (with some complications; not heart related) and my father had it after a heart attack and cardiac arrest in April 2001.

Shannon - of course we'll pray for your Step-Father. 43 is so young to be going thru that! It sounds like he's on his way to recovery so I'll pray for continued success. BTW, my husband's family has heart disease/attacks in their history also. Several male relatives decades ago died in their 30s from heart attacks. His mother died from heart failure after open heart surgery (she was in her late 60s). Then his younger brother had a heart attack at age 35. At this point, Jim practically went running to our doctor! They did all sorts of tests and Jim's fine! He apparently takes after his dad's side of the family. So what I'm trying to say is, don't lose all hope when you know there's heart disease risk. Some get it, some can escape it too. Like me, I got colon cancer (my dad had it) but my 2 brothers are just fine. So think positive! Be glad he's getting the care he is.

(((Hugs))) - you rarely ask for anything Shannon. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

There is so much that can be done to help those who are detected in time. Stents and catheters have become procedures that are quite common. Of course, then, the hard part is the change of lifestyle required to improve one's overall condition.

My prayers are with your stepdad and you, too.

Update.....

He is doing fine...still a little sore. He has Coronary Artery Disease....the main left side artery was about 90-95% blocked (which was were the stint was put it) another artery is 55% block and yet another is about 35% block. If all goes well with his meds, the doctors are hoping that the chloresterol will slowly disintegrate. Lets all hope that happens.

Thanks for all the well wishes.

You're welcome, Shannon. Good thing he had the procedure done. Hopefully the stint does what it's suppose to do and that the cholesterol disintegrates.

Shannon, my Mom had the same procedure done about 6 years ago. She noticed an immediate improvement. She was 74 at the time is now 80, happy and healthy. She still works 4 days a week.

He'll be in my prayers.
