I have been watching this one closely. This is the area that was SW of Franklin off the Carolinas. Finally getting some recognition...

I don't think it will develop if it is not a cyclone already. It's moving into an area of 30-40 knot wind shear...

With the NHC being that conservative, I doubt this will make it to anything nameable although it might be at TS/STS strength.
Definitely a candidate for an upgrade in post-season analysis.

Thanks Rock. I rarely dislike what the NHC does, but I think they really missed this one. In my opinion it should have been circled since yesterday at least. I feel this may be classified in post-season analysis. It is too late now. It's not like this would have been a significant system, but I just don't feel like they are being consistent by naming storms such as Franklin, but not this....

Deserves a straight code red, but the National Hurricane Center won't do it. A slight increase in thunderstorm activity will result in a tropical cyclone IMO, which a lot of people will probably agree with.

Should have been declared an invest and mentioned in the TWO 12-24 hours ago.

AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE LOCATED ABOUT 450 MILES NORTH-NORTHEAST OF
THE NORTHERN LEEWARD ISLANDS IS PRODUCING DISORGANIZED SHOWER
AND THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY. SHIP AND BUOY OBSERVATIONS SUGGEST THAT
THE SYSTEM STILL DOES NOT HAVE A CLOSED SURFACE CIRCULATION...AND
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO REMAIN ONLY MARGINALLY
CONDUCIVE FOR DEVELOPMENT OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS DUE TO THE

Very interesting looking system, not a whole lot of convection but thats not surprising given its very northerly latitutde.

This part of the basin has been rampant this season with regards to disturbances...
