Actually we are under the same restrictions. I am guessing they hope the restrictions will be lifted by the time the pool is completed. Otherwise they will have a fancy hole in the ground!

Official today was 104f, weatherbug site was 104f, and here at the house we got to 106F!!! At the rate we are going it is going to be into the 120's before all is said and done. UUUGGGGHHHHH!!!! Oh, I forgot it is back down to 103.1f now. I changed the title on the thread so it would be truthful!

Sweet sweet rain! My first real rainfall this month at my house and we're under a severe thunderstorm warning. I know it's dangerous to be outside but it feels so good right now on the porch!

Didn't last long outside
. The most intense storm I've seen this year, easily. Branches scattered around outside and still pouring rain. Was able to peak at the rain gauge not long ago and already 1.75"...Broadmoor area.

Yikes! Didn't lose power here but it flashed quite a few times, I figured power was going out in other parts of the city. Going to be interesting to see the aftermath in the morning I'd imagine there's some trees down. I also heard about the fatality on the news possibly due to traffic lights being out...sad. Amazing that it has been finished raining for a while and there are still lightning strikes shooting across the sky with thunder so loud it's shaking the entire house. 102 degrees, 2.7" of rain, winds to almost hurricane force, what a storm event from a 20% chance day! Goes to show you how much energy this heat can create for storms.

And on and on and on... 24 days without a drop of rain and the last amount was 0.15". High today at the house 105.4f, official high 104f, and 104f at the closest weatherbug site.
That is sad about the fatality in Lafayette.

Thanks. The days seem to just fuse together. We have shattered so many records we never thought possible and we still keep on.....

Tireman much as I dread our upcoming winter (which, btw, is never as bad as what I imagine) you folks certainly are in desperate need.
Americans are world renowned for their generosity and I really do hope others are helping you folks out (this time not with money but with animal feed/pasure land). In 2002 Saskatchewan was facing it's worst drought in 133 years. Like farmers and ranchers down there we had almost total crop failure. There was no feed, and many farmers were being forced to sell their cattle and many were at risk of losing their farms. At that same time farmers down East were enjoying an abundant harvest of hay.

is a heart-warming tale about a relief effort of Eastern Canada to the worst drought in Western Canada's recorded history. It is about farmer helping farmer, neighbour helping neighbour and the East caring for the West. It is the story of two modest Ontario farmers who made a difference that couldn't possibly be imagined. Within 4 months of watching heartbreaking newscasts from the West McWilliams and his son had spearheaded an effort that encompassed over 1,600 volunteers (and many others) that gathered and sent over 60,000 large bales of donated hay to 1,000 farm families in Saskatchewan and Alberta (in the 30's Ontarions sent food out West).
Sending enough hay to keep the massive cattle herds of Texas alive and out of the auctions may be impossible but I hope that some are able to find very cheap pasture up in the northern States to house their prize breeding stock (my husband just yesterday saw a herd of Texas longhorns near my town...I do know some Texans have even bought ranch land up here but I'm not sure if they could bring their Texan born cattle across the border now).
I just read that Texan farmers are about to/are currently planting into dry-as-dust powder (brings back heartbreaking memories of 2002 here).
Please hang on though, for a little longer, and let us get our crops harvested and then all the cold you want we will do our best to send.
