GOM Disturbance

#1 Postby bfez1 » Thu Aug 28, 2003 4:12 pm

I have just one thing to say. If New Orleans does get threatened by a storm it better be on Tuesday and not Monday. I want my "hurricane day" off and I am already off on Monday.

Would you guys say a quick prayer for one of my best friends and her hubby? They're leaving port shortly. http://www.galveston.com/webcams/thestrand/index.htm

They know what's out there and we're all hoping the worst they get is just some rain before they get back. I still can't believe they're going.

Thanks!

Sure thing man. There was a fellow from over on TWC board who left from Miami for a Carribean cruise last Friday, I believe.

I especially like the "Fun Day At Sea" scheduled for Sunday.

Eh, it'll be a fun day alright ... if you like high seas and heavy storms.

Hope they took some motion sickness pills - things might get a little bumpy for them coming home.

They said the gift basket they had in their cabin had Tylenol PM. Not sure about Dramamine though.

Boy, this ship moves fast *sarcasm*

LOL...well, that was exciting...watching the boat leave. If I wasn't at work, I would have watched them for the pier and wave.

Ah well. Maybe they have Dramamine on board. I can't imagine why they wouldn't. I guess it just wasn't in the Bon Voyage basket.

LOL! Ya, think about it. The bon voyage basket is supposed to be cheeful and celebratory. A box of dramamine in the middle of it might take a little bit of the festive spirit off of the occasion. :D I'm sure they've got motion sickness pills on board. I mean, I'd certainly HOPE they would.

someone on one of these boards worked for a cruise line once and said that they often change the cruise itinerary to avoid a storm area, though after looking at the Gulf, I dont know where else they could possibly go. guess that's why we always pay for vacation insurance.........

as a sidenote, dean4Storms is one guy at TWC board going a cruise too.

Most cruise ships have bins of generic Dramamine II free for the taking at their med center. And the newer ships are so stabilized, most of the time you don't even know you're moving! Which I hate... I *love* the ship rocking me to sleep. Granted, not in the middle of 20 foot waves! But that is why I don't ever cruise during hurricane season. :)
