quaqualita wrote:hi all, north coast of DR is since about 3 hrs experiencing very strong winds again. Last night / early morning when Irene's center passed just a few miles north of us we were lucky and received only 40-45knts with a few gusts in the 50ies. Daytime was quite, no wind, only some rain (I posted the 'all ok' msg earlier), but now winds are picking up and I mean really picking up again, in the 30-40 knot range again and getting stronger and stronger by the hour!! What's that all about? Irene is supposed to have left us, but for sure doesn't feel like it.

What you're getting is the southerly tail of Irene. Puerto Rico had some pretty heavy rains from the same thing after Irene went. From the looks on satellite you could expierence this for at least another 24 hours.
