Wow, this is the epitome of this summer ... there's a nice batch of rain to our east and it is moving ... southwest, of course, AWAY FROM AUSTIN! (ok, I'll stop yelling).

I may start believing in force shields, this city must have one. I am watching rain on radar, as it moves towards us it dies. It did that last night.

Oh wow just checked today's 12zNam and it's showing 2m high temperatures of 110F for most of South Texas and parts of Central Texas for this Sunday.

Enjoyed walking through a light shower after class today. Wasn't much but we'll take what we can get. Sharing the "What is going on?" look with total strangers was priceless!

Hey! On cue with Larry Cosgrove, the ECMWF is advertising (0z run anyway) a significant pattern shift for labor day weekend, with RAIN coming in with deep moisture on the back (TX) periphery of the eastern high.

Yep the 8-14 day period looks promising for rain for Texas! I sure hope it verifies!

I'll have to see it to believe it. In other words, I will not be rushing out to empty my rain guage of the half inch of dust that has settled in it.

My weatherbug forecast for NW Corpus shows 109 degrees on Saturday and 106 on Sunday. We are supposed to cool down to 102 by Tuesday. :roll:

These 8-14 day forecast for rain are starting to look like the monster snow storms that show up in the winter that far out that never come . Or the Cat 4 hurricane going up the Houston Ship Channel which the GFS seem to spit out everytime it picks up a big thunderstorm in the Yucatan.

^ Climatology is on our side for once this go round! It has to (and will) cool off eventually. It's a matter of finding the time frame for it. This is not the first model run advertising change, one would want to look at the overall global pattern. The PNA is on the rise and we will likely feel it's effects not long after (around labor day is my guess). One can hope! An Appalachian ridge would allow for the tropics to upon up in Texas during the peak of Hurricane season, so it's not all impossible =P

Edit: 12z ECM is doing the same, chipping away at the ridge with crisp air coming into Oklahoma around labor day. Keep your fingers crossed, Texas. Pattern changes are ahead!

Just reporting what I see.. :oops: :lol: All kidding aside August has been brutal here in Deep South Texas with temperatures above 100F and 0.00 inches of rain so far for the month :cry:

I will take a closer look at the long range models tonight as September is nearly upon us and my best bet is that some much needed rain will visit Texas..

LOL! I post something about rain and sure enough, the sky falls. Severe weather warnings and all! Nice and dark outside my office with the lights on in the parking lot. Too bad the strom is moving at 50 MPH.
