Steph, I am a bit surprised TWC would show Mike S doing what ALL have said not to do: one rogue wave and he might be history not to mention evacuate the beaches. TWC should haul him off imo.

Anyone wandering around in the surf in danger zones should be arrested and jailed.

You could hear Mike Bettis in the background saying "dude, get out of there!", before they spoke with him again. Mike Seidel said he won't put himself in harm's way, but he is. All of those that are reporting onsite I think are getting a little more brazen each time they do it. Somebody's going to push the envelope too far.

Eric Fisher from TWC is in Virginia Beach and getting HAMMERED. There's cars driving all over. There's roofs blown off already. THE EYE IS STILL SEVERAL HOURS AWAY.

Hope no one in my hometown area is be blowing this storm off. Watching TWC's Eric Fisher reporting from Va Beach, impressed w/the winds there. No surprise though w/that heavy band that's in the area right now. Been watching the Dominion Power outage map (http://dom.com/storm-center/dominion-el ... ummary.jsp) steady go up. Most outages on the Southside right now as expected, as that heavier band rotates into the Peninsula expect to see the outage #'s jump again.

CLKN7 had 52 g 61 knots at 15Z; verifying the 50 to 60 knot winds the SFMR showed in the southern and even southwestern quadrant on the earlier mission. (Current plane has no SFMR data available.)

They're reporting that people are just boarding up in Va Beach and are driving around like it is just a thunderstorm coming through. These people do not have a clue. We are still getting topical storm force winds just north of Wilmington.
