Question for the EXPERTS
One of my locals..Dennis Phillips from ABC..action news. Said " A trough is forecast to build..and keep Fabian away from the United States..Is this what the models are predicting? Any input would be appreciated. Yesterday they seemed concerned..now..They are almost confident it's no threat!!
Just wondering??

It's just way TOO early to say if Fabian will be a threat or not. The Atlantic ridge has been very strong this year, and the models have been notorious for weakening it too much and too fast so far this season. Having said that..I think it is clear there will be enough of a weakness in the ridge by days 4-6...allowing for a more NW motion. This would suggest that Florida would be out of the woods so to speak...but I again caution you that the ridge has been VERY strong this year and until it actually weakens or erodes on the western flank, I would be leary of writting it off.

Agree
I agree, the models have done a poor job of forecasting the re-building of the ridge behind each front. It's possible Fabian could turn north and be blocked by high pressure building to the north. If that happens, then Fabian could be shoved west into the east U.S. coast. It's all a matter of precise timing.
