ATL: LEE - Remnants - Discussion

This has me very intrigued. 50 mph wind gusts are being reported all the way from Galveston, TX to Biloxi, MS. Perhaps a new center is indeed trying to form west of the main system? Being in SE Texas, I am of course hoping that something will transpire with this to bring us a good soaking...

But that SSW drift may indicate a slow drift back off the coast of SW La. I don't think that the center of the cyclone has much chance of reaching Texas, but looks like SE Texas will continue to catch some of the motion around Lee (at least for awhile). But if this meanders back off the coast, it will almost assuredly strenghthen (I think). Most likely then to come back toward La. Just an opinion of an amateur here.

What I'm saying is that IF Lee does move back off the coast I think we will see him consolidate into a smaller more intense cyclone. I think we are already seeing signs of consolidation now. In other words, less rain spread at such great distances from the center. Just the opinion of an amateur here.

Still raining off and on here South of Fairhope. I am going to try to upload the pics from today and yesterday but will post them in the other thread so I don't flood this one with them. Looks like rain all night and Sunday for this area. Thank goodness for no tornado warnings for my area. Mobile has had their share today. I keep hearing warnings for Dauphin Island, Bayou la Batre, etc. I hope it calms down there so people can sleep tonight.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Right now, many of us in the Houston area are just grateful for the rain that appears headed our way. NWS has increased our chance of rain tonight to 60%, and some of the outer bands appear ready to blanket most if not all of the city.

Anyone else noticing in the last couple hours how far south west lee is building back with moisture where there was dry air: http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/flt/t1/flash-wv.html Is it possible as it hangs around the coast stalled out it my finally be winning the battle with the dry air, and possibly could cut off some of that Texas dry heat from disrupting the circulation and preventing it from getting stronger ???

Looking at Lake Charles radar, Lee definitely is drifting wsw back off the coast. Can't help but to think back at the NAM runs from earlier today. Moving just as it was showing. Could we eventually see HP push this further back in the gulf tomorrow???

I would be surprised to see that actually confirm. I know it has happened before but it is somewhat rare. I think it might drift a little further south tonight and continue back northward tomorrow. At least that is what I am hoping. I know that Texas, parts of Alabama and Florida, could use the rain but a persistent system in the GOM close enough to continually dump rain would not be a good thing.
