yep. i decided this morning to leave my umbrella at home expecting a mostly dry day and that turned out to be a correct call. i thought that perhaps we might get a decent line tonight in advance of the cold front but that potential appears to be a bust. so we effectively got nothing from the whole deal!

Re: ATL: INVEST 95L - Discussion
It's been a strange day (weather wise) in Collier Co. (FL). It has rained all day....sometimes light-medium and other times very heavy but we've only have a few periods of windy weather. Tonight we are experiencing quite a light show with rolling thunder that is rattling the windows and the wind is picking up again. We are under a tornado watch until 6 a.m. tomorrow but I'm not expecting anymore surprises than what we have already had. (Thought was going to Tampa and points north)
Good luck and be safe, everyone.

Rain all day here mostly light to occasional moderate rain. Heavy rain for a few hours this evening, giving way
to light and steady. Now 11:30 heavy rain and lightning and noticed as Sanibel stated air has gotten warmer
in the last two or so hrs. Wind this evening has picked up considerably, gusty on occasion. Rain totals in the backyard
are at just shy of 5.0 inches for today. Im sure when done totals from this here will be around 7-8 inches since Sunday night.
NWS has just issued Severe T'Storm warning for Lee County till 1:07am. Clouds going by real fastfrom the SSW right now,
very tropical look and feel outside.
Waiting on the cool front. Wonder if that will be interesting when it comes in from Gulf.

Hello folks,
Today's Florida weather event actually hit close to home...way too close. My neighborhood in South Florida (Sunrise) has been hit by a tornado this evening and many trailer homes across my street have lost roofs and even some were totally destroyed. Many trees are down and there is debris on what appears to be a 1/4 mile wide path of damage. I actually saw the twister when it blew up a power transformer and outlined the trees swaying in different directions. I was watching the storm unfold by the window and upon seeing the busting transformer and the trees moving, I knew what was up and got myself and my family into the bathroom quick. Soon after we went outside and saw the damage first hand. Luckily it appears no one was killed. I would personally estimate this tornado as an EF-1, perhaps low EF-2 in some of the blocks further up my street that were closed by the police. There was some talk about the possibility of straight line winds, but I found evidence that this was undoubtedly a twister...a piece of the roof of a trailer home was tangled in the bushes of a gated community to its SOUTH, so as the parent storm itself traveled north-northeast, a spinning wind blew this roof southwards. The rest of South Florida should keep abreast of this situation overnight as more tornadoes are possible, as the watch states. It's been a wild night.
